I need some help ladies...
Just getting my girl reacquainted with the gym after about 18 months absence. I'm tired of listening to her excuses for why she doesn't wo so I just told her she's coming with me at least on weekends. Nothing like forcible intervention :)

I got her on the same workout as me (weighted chinups program). Today was her first day.

I'm pushing her toward strength training and it's completely new to her. I actually have no idea what a women should be working with? I wanted to index it

On the big 3 lifts today she did:
Front barbell squat 70x5 (3 sets)
Bench press 70x5 (3sets)
Palms up pulldowns 85x5 (3 sets)

Then accessory work but for the sake of this conversation it's really irrelevant

What would be considered strong for a woman? 135 bench 1 rpm? 200 squat 1 rpm?

Considering that I just started bench pressing recently, 135lb for 1 rep is my current goal. I'm able to rep out 85lbs and trying to add weight each week. In my experience, I feel like benching and getting the weights up is harder for me to progress, than let's say back squats. One exercise that I highly recommend is barbell hip thrusters. Progressive overload will transform that booty in no time. I don't know of any females who wouldn't want to better their backsides. ;-)

And good for you for getting her to workout with you. Hopefully she sticks with it and gets motivated once she starts to see changes physically and in strength.

A good 5x5 program works great for women too . Its all I used my first 3 years and I still modify and use it sometimes .
Using 90lbs for reps should be your goal now....;) ~Ogh

Thanks for the tips. I just have to remember to check myself which I was good at today. I'm intense and I expect that from my partner. Most people don't have that natural disposition. I make pumping gas look intense ;) so I just try to bring it down a notch and encourage her development. We have another planned wo tomorrow and we're going to continue to feel these lifts out. Next week I expect real progress for her. She's a shebeast naturally I think. Pretty strong

I have massive respect for women who look after them selfs and lift, also for women who want to step it up and use anavar etc. I get on with a few women in my gym, when I first met one I was like.... Jezzzz... Getting all flirty and stuff. But now I am past that stage. I treat them like one of the guys. Help out where I can, spot and push etc.

There's nothing sexier than a woman who lifts. My 2c

Thank you for this. I think men who lift are appreciative of women who lift because they understand how much work and dedication goes into the lifestyle. I am just as appreciative of men (women too) who lift. It's funny because I never used to be into muscular guys. But ever since I've been lifting, I'm only attracted to the muscle-heads, haha.

I've been wanting to try this for some time. Do you think it will work well once I start my cycle in a couple weeks? I will start researching programs and see if I can find a good fit. I'm currently doing a 5 day split.

I got a funny visual of you pumping gas.:p

Definitely keep her accountable but don't be too hard. Positive reinforcement goes a long way!

Have you ever done full-body work-outs 3-x a week ?

Yes, I did it for maybe a month but went back to a 5 day split because I couldn't take having so many rest days! Lol

Also, with not being able to fully burn-out one muscle group made me feel like I wasn't getting in a good workout. It was probably in my head, but I didn't care for it for those reasons.

Ladies just an FYI this guy ^^^ zyzz is just a troll that won't leave meso don't entertain him.

Question- I have been helping a girl at my gym switch over to powerlifting and it has all been in the gym but as of late she found out I have/had similar profession to what she wants and now wants to spend time with me outside the gym training for those kinds of things too. Context: she is 6 feet tall and I am
Into short girls don't know why just am, she is gorgeous and all that jazz so I M wondering does this sound more like a she wants to get to know me better or I have knowledge that she wants and needs the extra hours outside he gym to acquire said knowledge? Cause if it's the former I don't really want to play along but if it's the other one then I have no problem helping out

To be it sounds like she may want to get to know you better.
Is she throwing any other signs to you, like texting, smiling a lot, asking about personal life?
I'm just talking based on my experience but when I'm not interested in a guy I will try to be as distant as possible. But if I like him I would prob try to spend a little more time with him so I can get a better picture of how he is.

From the little bit that you posted, it sounds to me like she's interested in getting to know you, if you know what I mean, ha. It's quite possible that she only wants work-related info from you but if that's the case, there's no need to meet up outside the gym for that. You can call her to give info, send emails, links, etc.

Alright well that's enough for me then, I'll try and just keep it in the gym then maybe talk when I'm on the treadmill walking or something. I don't want to give her the wrong idea cause I'm only interested in helping the training. I'm digging this thank you ladies!

I guess it all depends on her size. How tall is she and what's her weight?
135 lbs bench press for any woman is pretty impressive. Those 45 lbs plates look sexy AF IMO.
I've seen women deadlift 135 lbs but I look at them and they are like 150 lbs. where I can do the same and I'm 105 lbs. so it's all relative.

I think the fact that she agreed to go workout with you on the weekend is very sweet. She may not really wanna do it, but she's making an effort for you.
once she starts seeing progress in strength gains and muscle size she may surprise you and start going to the gym religiously. It's so addictive when you see your body transform.

Nah she wants to do it. Just anxiety issues for the first time back and general excuses that most first timers have. I'm just giving her the push she needs. Strength training is very tangible so I'm guiding her in that direction. Seeing is believing!

Oh she's 30, 5'7 158 currently

Its got its advantages sometimes (especially in the beginning).... Good for building strength and bulk . Theres a growth effect from fullbody workouts you cant get from split routines/bodyparts . I do it at least a few times thru-out the year . Modified for myself of course .
