I need some help ladies...
Just getting my girl reacquainted with the gym after about 18 months absence. I'm tired of listening to her excuses for why she doesn't wo so I just told her she's coming with me at least on weekends. Nothing like forcible intervention
I got her on the same workout as me (weighted chinups program). Today was her first day.
I'm pushing her toward strength training and it's completely new to her. I actually have no idea what a women should be working with? I wanted to index it
On the big 3 lifts today she did:
Front barbell squat 70x5 (3 sets)
Bench press 70x5 (3sets)
Palms up pulldowns 85x5 (3 sets)
Then accessory work but for the sake of this conversation it's really irrelevant
What would be considered strong for a woman? 135 bench 1 rpm? 200 squat 1 rpm?
Considering that I just started bench pressing recently, 135lb for 1 rep is my current goal. I'm able to rep out 85lbs and trying to add weight each week. In my experience, I feel like benching and getting the weights up is harder for me to progress, than let's say back squats. One exercise that I highly recommend is barbell hip thrusters. Progressive overload will transform that booty in no time. I don't know of any females who wouldn't want to better their backsides. ;-)
And good for you for getting her to workout with you. Hopefully she sticks with it and gets motivated once she starts to see changes physically and in strength.
