Bacteria probably doesn’t cause short term pip, at least not without redness, swelling, and heat indicating infection. It would likely take 24 hours or more (Can still hurt you but that’s another topic).
Oxidation, for those who don’t know, is “burning”. Fire is very fast oxidation. Rust is slow oxidation. For the most part, aging is the result of oxidation.
Peroxides are oil oxidation byproducts that are catalysts for more oxidation in your body. Essentially, the opposite of an anti-oxidant. They can cause fast local PIP without “infection symptoms”.
Pharma grade MCT is completely free of unsaturated fats. Saturated fat like “pure MCT” is very difficult to oxidize. It has to be “broken” first, by heat, light, long exposure to humidity. If it’s fresh, oxygen exposure alone won’t oxidize it for a long time.
The cheap shit “MCT” from China appears to be a blend of multiple vegetable oils, severely degraded MCT (long expired/recycled fryer oil), or god knows what else. Whatever it is, it’s full of unsaturated fats and susceptible to oxidation. What we’ve seen in GCMS of some Chinese oils, even if we don’t know exactly how much, are chemical byproducts that suggest the oil was severely oxidized long before it was even brewed. GCMS of other oils have no oxidation byproducts at all, just the compounds you’d expect from MCT.
Oxidation takes time and oxygen. Air is only 20% oxygen.
As time goes on, the crappy oil breaks down and becomes more and more “.hungry” for oxygen. It becomes more susceptible to oxidation.
There isn’t enough oxygen in the small headspace of a near full vial to support oxidation of all the oil.
When the vial is full, the cheap shit mystery “mixed oils” from China can only oxidize a small amount from the tiny amount of oxygen available in the headspace.
Each time you draw, the headspace gets bigger and “recharged” with fresh oxygen full air.
So the last part of the oil finally has sufficient “fuel” to fully oxidize, and the resulting peroxides are known to cause fast local reactions (and systemic inflammation).
