An over 40 forum section?

50 here, been back to lifting for 4 years now “ after a 12 yr lay-off” so I know all about joint issues lol. Still always learning but I’m the kind of guy who respects experience, I want to hear real world personal experiences from those who have been their and tried that, not shit people have read about on the internet. All for an over 40 forum.

Be 59 in February. Started at 19 and haven't slowed down much at all. Got a few injuries from 20 yrs ago but all told I look better than I did at 40! I'd like to see a forum for the long timers also.

It would definitely be a help to have this forum as it feels as though things start to drastically changed with ability and recovery at 40 and keep changing from there on. The 20 somethings dont really care about half of what we talk about cause they are still invincible and the 30 somethings are too busy with career and women and still think they have a chance at making money or recognition off their physique to really worry about what's coming up. Now 40 and onward we start to look inward more and prepare more for the harder years coming up and start to worry more about functionality over appearance.

Itd be cool to have a spot where we could share tips and ideas weve found to get more out of ourselves at this age and it would be cool to have a spot where we can bitch and moan about all the little things that pop up as we age lol.

Until Millard deems it necessary, or at least worthy, to give us a forum there could at least be a thread. Since BigPoppa had the idea he should have the honour of starting and naming it. A thread that would draw the more mature members to discuss all that needs to be discussed about moving metal past the age of 40. Common injuries and how to work around them, meal prepping for 40+ to get big or to cut, health issues that affect our workouts, etc...
It may end up being a sticky thread like the one #Oregongearhead started "What R U Eating"
How bout it Bigpoppa. Would you get the ball rolling? It's obvious that we need it and that it would be popular.

Sure, why not. The only question is under what forum shall we fly our geezer flag? Or should we just run under this thread title and keep going?

I may throw one up in a couple places. In starting to lean towards powerlifting or lifting for strength in general over hypertrophy and I'd like to hear for the old dudes in the powerlifting forum on how to go about training for strength while staying fresh and injury free.

It still would be awesome to have a forum section for older guys where we can discuss our issues that come along with this lifestyle at our ages. @Millard Baker :)

I quit powerlifting at 35 and made a comeback at 46 Im 50 now. It is a much different animal when you throw age, recovery ability , injury etc. into the equation. A forum for us senior citizens to discuss our aches and pains would be nice. We could call it the MCL cafeteria.

It would be highly beneficial. I'll be there in 2 more weeks myself, and I think most of guys 40+ around here are not newbies, but guys trying to roll with the punches and keep improving at that.

So much changes over the years, your training tactics, your labs and precautionary measures, compounds you no longer handle well anymore, recovery, dosing amounts, supplements for overall health and not necessarily just sports performance. Also, huge mental aspect of things as well. For example, some guys need new ways to get motivated, new goals, change or training style altogether. But there is no reason to throw in the towel, you just get smarter and train hard AND smart. I feel as though it's a forum section that could seriously improve the lives of many guys. And I think ppl have it twisted lately, jusy cause a dude is over 40 yrs old doesn't mean he doesn't have the work ethic. Funny but when we go for hikes up in the mountains I see more middle aged ppl than youngsters getting it in. Work ethic man, work ethic!! I'm all for it and aside from strictly age specific, many of us are what I would call "gym old" also. We have put our bodies through hell and would like to keep it going as long as possible on the best level we can. I'll be in this club in the next 2 wks, although I've felt a part of the club all year already, haha
