Calories in vs. calories out and Macro App

I got a calorie counting, Macro app, that keeps up an exercise log. It's pretty cool and it sure beats doing all this stuff on paper like I used to.
Anyway, trying to maintain my current weight at 245 and leaning down more, My caloric intake should be between 3100 and 3300, (depending on which calculator used)

I ate 3400 cals yesterday with a macro break down of 46%pt/42%carbs/12%fat, BUT with my workout and about 5 hours of felling trees and cutting up firewood, my new little app told me I was in a 4900 calorie deficit.

Now that really sucked!

This doesn't sound correct... If I'm understanding you correctly, your app was telling you that you needed around 8500 calories yesterday just to maintain your bodyweight. I don't think so.

I think you're doubling up on your TDEE by accident. Don't worry about calculating your fault expenditure each day with exercise. Assume that you need 3200 calories each day as a baseline to maintain your weight.

Yeah, TDEE says roughly 3200. But this app counts work, and workouts (if you log them, which I did).

So technically it was saying that I expended that many calories. I am just using it to track calories and macros. Don't really care about calories out, but I just thought it was funny when it told me I was at a 5000 calorie deficit. I just thought things had changed since I was doing it on paper.
I am 51 years old and I am far from being technologically savvy. Heck I just upgraded from a flip phone to a smart phone just a couple months ago.
