I dont agree with donating to something that has already been paid… you’s do know that the government pays for this stuff then asks for donations?? Same as when a grocery store asks u to pay for thanksgiving meals… already covered they just want their money back and a way to pay less taxes or some other way to gain an advantage of a loop hole… its all a scam…

much like rich nfl players asking for donations after a hurricane… SMFDH… all those strings attached to someones heart like a fucken puppet…. All for what? To pay more money thats been taxed a million times that we pay… its a joke… and a scam… ask for donations… why? Because big pharma wont release the cure…

Idk if you are familiar with how alot of grants works for families with cancer.

Do you have any first hand experience with these type of funds? Or families with cancer?

Certain organizations pull money from funding to help cover copays, housing, costs for people, transportation.

While I don't disagree with you, the original dude's comment was so ridiculous and unhinged that it wasn't worthy of sparking a dispute.

I'm not sure why Spaceman pandered to his silliness but that's his prerogative. His point was he doesn't like being solicited at the grocery store (which is fair I guess) but then turned it into agreeing with the "big pharma conspiracy" guy claims when it comes to grocery stores...

As a random STORY TIME aside with regards to checkout donations....one time, I had a fat coupon to save like $50 on a purchase. It turned out I was like $0.82 short for the purchase to apply (it had to be on one item or some shit...I don't remember exactly but the manager literally looked at me helplessly,.felt like a douche, and I accepted there was nothing to be done...it was something my wife wanted so I had to move forward with the purchase...lol)

Whelp, the clerk proceeds to re-ring my purchase up...and then "oh... whoops...do you wanna donate to XYZ charity." (The clerk knew it was like kicking me in the nuts but they gotta ask anyway...). I said "sure, fuck it, whatever.." My total then dropped substantially....turns out whatever tiny donation I made "tricked" the coupon into working (no one fucking come at me with the accounting bullshit to explain how that works).

My point? I think about that moment every fucking time one of those "do you wanna donate?" Buttons pops up and say "yes" way more than I ever would have without that moment in my life...lol.

I don't give a shit about this argument...it was started by someone who sounds like a lunatic. I wish you'd both just "take an L" here, no matter which side of the argument I come down on...but wtf do I know? (And please peeps... don't follow up with all the stories of donation scams...I suppose if it's like Walmart or some shit, then ok but let's skip the "corner Mart bake sale scam" stories...just sayin').

I donate what I can,.when I can...and have no qualms about saying no when I can't. It doesn't bother me when the question is asked (but don't get me started on all the goddam places where they ask for "tips" now).

I agree that one uneducated naysayer shouldn’t derail the good deeds of others. I also agree to @Spaceman Spiff point about donations should come from those who many to make them. If you are pressuring people to donate it defeats the point of donating to a good cause. If you want to lead then if they don’t make a donation you yourself make another or a large donation yourself to make up for their lack of charity. @readalot I will just say don’t get so quickly butt hurt anytime someone says anything negative towards you and use improved testing as some all benevolent crusade you did on your own. You helped push it which is great but much like charity you lose any credibility for the good deed by constantly screaming from the rooftops you did something you think is good. Just chill man.
