Unreliable gym partners, guys wearing gloves and using squat pads, guys flexing in the mirrors, curling in the squat rack, etc.. are all reasons why I built my own gym at home.

Now the only idiot I have to worry about when training is myself!

I'd like to have that someday, but I think I'd still hit the gym as well. I get kind of motivated lifting heavy around a bunch of people.

Having a home gym is one of the best decisions I've ever made. Then again, seeing PL'ing monsters like you pulling weights in-person is definitely motivating, but a little deflating when I go and try to pull the same numbers! Kinda nice not having to worry about competition now.

I'd love to be around more motivating people at the gym. There's a hardcore PL gym about an hour north of me I'd like to go train at someday. Too far to be a regular thing though.
 
Yep, I'd have to find a replacement friend in a heartbeat if they skipped out on upper body days. Leg days I get, lol. Different strokes for different genders, I guess!

I've had gym buddies that were flakes but not for long, if you want to train with me then you have to have your own drive to go cause I'm going with or without you doesn't matter to me. I'm not someone's motivator and when they ask me "hey can I work out with you I need someone there to give me the motivation to go" I always tell them that if they don't have something more motivating then just letting a friend down that they didn't show up then they'll just quit once it gets hard and I don't waste my time with quitters anymore. Once upon a time I was nice but you gotta be savage sometimes even with friends.

I feel you. I always go even if she cancels, its more like I'm working out and she makes plans to join. Agree with you on the motivation thing too, I don't think there is anything that can really motivate me other than myself. Same for others, if its not internal, it will eventually fade/not last.

I've yet to ever have a long-term term gym partner that actually was reliable for any length of time.
My gym is full of mediocre lifters, too. I'm actually impressed to see a four plate deadlift out of anyone.

Same lol, hey at least its not planet fitness. I kind of like lifting around other people too, its a different environment. I don't like when its busy though.

Guys skip leg day because it is hard

I skipped a lot of leg days my first year of lifting too lol. But now I love them...

I have an at home gym too with 3lb and 5lb dumbbells but I've out grown them a while ago lmao. But agreed, not having to worry about that is nice.
 
I work out at home also. I've been buying things here and there for the last 3yrs. My 17yo daughter uses it too. She benches,squats, and deadlifts with accessory exercises 1-2 times a week. She is fit as hell!

I was doing front squats, two sets in, at that point there were 2 25 lb plates, one on each side, then 2 2.5 lb plates one on each side, with the clips on the ends Bc sometimes they slide.

I literally just barely turned around and took two steps to the water fountain, and this old guy comes up and starts taking the clips off and almost has the 2.5 plate taken off, then I turn around obviously still was using it and he's like "oh I couldn't find these little plates anywhere" and I just told him I had one more set left but as he started walking away I noticed he was doing incline bench so I just took the little plates off and gave them to him and added 5 on plates on the sides of mine, I guess a win for me bc pr!

He should have at least been like "oh sorry I didn't know you were still using it", just because there aren't other 2.5 plates doesn't mean you can just take them off of someone else's rack. Especially if there are clips on it lol.

There were another 2 racks anyway with plates on them, he should have looked over there.

You did the right thing. People are stupid but I don't think he meant to be an asshole. I've had shit like that happen and once pointed out they're usually quick to apologize. Look at the positive, a new PR!

Ugh professor brought bagels to our lab :( so hard to resist. I survived but man was it hard lol.

So In terms of progress, been pretty consistent so far. Going to weigh myself next on Monday which is when the primo cycle starts. I hope to get into the 160's.

At my work, they feed us about every other day! Pizza, fish fry, barbeque, steak. There's always some goal/ milestone to celebrate. Worst part is if I'm working out in the field, they'll bring it out to me!

That's so tough!! Of course the food is good itself and hard to resist, but I also sometimes find it hard to not look weird eating nothing. Usually there is fruit or coffee or something else but not always. But I guess I just got to focus on my goal.

Pizza is amazing!! Lucky you haha :)
