Marijuana [Cannabis]

I completely agree with Doc. If space was no issue, then start them in 5 gal buckets, but plant will look so small lol.

Last weekend I got 1 new plant (strain), gorilla glue. It was a starter plant that I got from local medical dispensary for $20. It came in a solo plastic cup. I've transfered into a larger plot, but not sure of size. Then I will transfer into 3.5gal bucket. I decieded not to use 5 gal buckets due to limited room. I'd rather grow many plants using 3.5 gal buckets than less plants using 5 gal buckets.

Anybody know what the benefits of a mother plant? Is there something that a mother plant can provide that is unique? The reason why I ask is I will be flowering my original 4 plants, but was considering keeping 1 or 2 of them as mothers, but not sure if its "worth" it.

Gorilla glue is fucking awesome. Had it for the first time this weekend. Doc wholly endorses.

The benefits of a mother plant are to keep the strain going as OGH said. But you want to select the best mothers to keep going as not all strains have the same genetics.

Huh ? The benefits of a mother plant ? To keep the strain going !

As soon as you 12/12 your plants you have lost your potential mothers (future clones)
I always keep a few mothers growing in the 24hr room . Got to or you will have to buy more clones/seeds in the future . Growing pot is not rocket science , its basic gardening .

Couldn't I make clones from clones when they grow older?

Yes you could but you'd need the clones to be in vegetative state. Plus it's theorized that after so many levels of cloning clones, the genetics will deteriorate or weaken. I've not seen any proof of this and if would take many generations to show up but I figured if mention it anyway.

And Im officially joining the New Wave grow scene , I ordered 2 -300w LED grow lights last night off e-Bay, gonna try em out . Give my 1000w HPS a little break ....

With the LED lights. Is there switch for UV vs Infared. Since you want one for Veg and one for Flower.

I just got seeds. I have 6 strains. Starting them this weekend. I am pumped.

There is a red Infared only light. 90 W that is addable to the one you are getting. You add it during flowering to yield more. But I think that is already enough Red/infared for flowering.

You think that would be enough for 3-4 plants. At about 18-20 inches above them, with no dimmer. That's what I was thinking about doing.

Also until I get that LED. Can I use a flouresent bulb? Even though it is not as good.

Lol I am asking a lot of questions. But I like perfection. This is the last one. After this question I will be well-knowledged. I see you don't have any aluminum foil around your setup. I know the plants still absorb light. But do you think there is a significant difference if it was reflective on the sides. AKA- Did the product you yield grow just in that room. Or a reflected room. The pic you had.

They will grow just fine in a bare room with no mylar or reflective covering . I do have white greenhouse plastic in my flower room but the plants are probably too far from the walls to get much benefits (post #851). If your growing in a small tent theres more benefits to reflective walls .

I was wondering what kind of soil to use to grow.
I should get nutrient free soil right?
