Shit man that's a no fvck about weight for suoey grip but hell if it added 10lb to my bench I'd probably do it, life's to short to not hit PRs by any means neccasary!

I did it with the 385 when I did that last week too. I've always been nervous with it on the heavy stuff but it's been flying off my chest so much better. With the extra speed i have I'm blowing through sticking points. I haven't had any "oh shit" moments either. I refuse to do it with incline but flat hasn't really given me any issues

If it feels right and you trust your grip then use the suicide grip . I have smaller hands , dont trust my grip that much . My grip is killing me on the chin-ups because it gives out first . Im also slightly overweight which dont help chins or pull-ups..

I don't necessarily love the idea or feel of it, but it's working. It almost feels like It forces me to tuck my elbows better. I hit lower on my pause. The biggest difference besides speed is the bar never drifts back towards the rack so I'm getting full power every single push. When lock my thumbs the bar wants to drift back some and the other it's straight up and down.

I've used false grip exclusively for over 5 years now and don't think I could go back. Have gone over 400 in competition with that grip and bit higher in training.

Never thought twice about it until last fall. Tweaked my pec and moved my grip in a bit and touch point a bit lower as it allowed me to bench pain free. On the third day with that grip I was benching 385 and had it about half way up with good speed and the next second it was bouncing off the safties in the rack, which luckily could be set at 1 inch increments and I had them set correctly and the bar just crazed me just below the sternum.

It happened so quickly I had no idea what caused it. I had it videoed and it showed me getting just a bit out of the groove and my wrists shifted forward slightly to get back into proper position and that was it, bar came right off the meaty pads on my hands which is where I hold it (directly above the wrists).

Haven't had an issue since but other than during a meet I bench exclusively in my rack with the safties set at the right height. A rear spotter has zero chance if you lose it. Even two good size side spotters aren't likely to stop the bar before it hits your chest with at or near 400 on it when it goes into free fall.

One thing I will say is by holding the bar on the pads of your hand directly above your wrists if you lose it you are going to lose it moving forward and crash into your chest or upper abs not which isn't good but is a hell of a lot better than landing squarely on your neck.

I was a spotter at a competition where a guy benched 630 with a shirt on and got out of the grove there was 3 of us and we caught it fast but if safeties weren't set correctly his watermelon would have exploded there's just no way to fully catch it in time if it's a legit drop

Exactly. Gravity is not your friend when the bar is free falling towards your head or chest.

Fuck. yall are going to make me nervous
Looks like I'm using the safeties in the morning. As long as no one posts those bench press gone wrong videos. Last time I saw that shit I was on the Smith machine for a couple weeks:(

Fear can be the best motivator when lifting. Its helped me hit PRs plenty of times. Bar cant slip because I want to live.
Im the only one in the gym at 5 in the morning on Fri except a little old man doing 5lb dumbbell flys. I don't even know if he'd notice if I got crushed:confused:...I don't really think he knows I'm there any way.lol

And a little update. Been putting some weight on. About 5lbs as of now, bringing me to a stable 225. I feel really heavy lol, idk if I'm gonna maintain this weight for long, I've sacrificed some speed and leanness in the last 5 weeks or so. May cut 5-10 lbs soon and beef up again when it gets a little colder. In the mean time hoping I can set some pr's while I'm this heavy. My best numbers always come when I'm carrying some extra lbs of bodyweight. Screenshot_20160811-230350.png
