Meso Powerlifting Corner

I've heard sumo box squats work well, too.
I can't get the bar to stay still for good mornings, personally... Need a safety squat bar or suchlike for it.
September is a lot of sessions away. You can do it.

Well friends. Saw the surgeon today. Have surgery scheduled for the 26th. Ill be out of commission for a few weeks after, so once again I'm going to have to miss a comp. I'm starting to think it's not in the cards for me.

As for now I cant do much in the gym, but Im still going because I cant not go. Mostly been doing dumbells and hammer strength. Feels weird not being able to do the big 3. I feel dirty.

I'm thinking of doing a log for my hernia surgery from now til it's over, since it's a problem many lifters have had. Would anyone be interested in that or would that be a gross waste of time?

I think it would be a good write up man. My dad's had a couple hernias might just be a matter of time till I get one but I sure hope not.

I think that'd be interesting, I've never seen a log about something like that.

Sorry for the tough luck man. Speedy recovery. I think a lot of guys would follow your surgery and recovery log. I know I'd drop in. Never a bad thing to share experiences, especially ones relative to our lifestyle.

Hope you recover quick Jay. That sucks bro... I might be in the same boat though. I've got an appointment with a GI in a few weeks

I know a lot of us feel aches and pains all the time and I'm probably the biggest activist for stretching and mobility but I don't usually write about this part of my recovery. On my knee is a dr. Cool compression ice wrap they are 12 bucks and awesome it's like a tensor bandage that cools so you get compression and ice. Then on my legs I have my pulse massager which is great I've had this unit for 6 years not ever since I started training for triathlons, it cost be 20 bucks off of one of those hokey apps that sell Chinese knock offs but it still works great and I've used it easily 300x. Aches are apart of the game but there's always something you can do if you got the time. Probably gonna take an ice bath after Saturday's workout again too it hurts like hell but man you are like jelly after

Man, that's quite the setup! I wish I still had my tens machine.

I would follow it for sure and i think anyone would be smart to. We could be in that boat at any time i imagine and preparation is always a good thing.

Good / bad news my fellow lifters. I told y'all a little over a week ago I had been out of the gym having stomach problems (I thought). After a bunch of tests I found out I have 3 hernias in my abdomen (sheiko did me in). 2 small, one not so small.

I saw the surgeon today. He recommended surgery but told me to sleep on it. But I think Im going to give in and do it. So I should be back in it in no time.

Also, I hate to admit it. But I started going back to the gym last week after looking in the mirror and missing my mass. But Ive been doing traditional BB workouts since I cant lift heavy.

Anyone else had hernia surgery? How long was recovery? Im still hoping to be able to compete in September, though that maybe slipping away.

Sorry Jay. Late to the game. I haven't been around much. I've had a pair of hernia surgeries and currently have two more. The ones that are low can be fixed effectively, without much pain and a minimal recovery time in my experience.

The ones I currently have are both high. One is an ugly umbilical hernia. My last surgeon told me not to screw around with the high ones unless the pain is too much to bear and I have followed his advice. He said they are much more painful and require a longer recovery time than the low ones. The ones I had repaired were both just below the belt level.

Ive got 3. One below belt level. One umbilical. One epigestal. Im hoping the recovery time wont be too long, but im looking forward to training pain free. The more I think about it, the more I realize Ive had at least 2 of them and they just got worse. Of course the September meet is off the table, but I'll find one soon enough.

Ok good, i'm not the only one running around with a hernia. I have an umbilical that is pretty much pain free. I have to run my belt a little higher than normal, but so far that is it. I went to a hernia specialist and he suggested i leave it alone until it becomes painful.

Fuxkkkk, all this hernia talk has me scared.

I need some input brothers... within the year I've been seriously training, I've gotten my squat to 425 and DL to 495 natural.. Is it crazy to think that, with proper training and diet, etc. I could get to 500 / 600 respectively, without gear? It's a goal I'd like to hit before I jump in and start a cycle, but I'm unsure about how possible it is.
