Meso Powerlifting Corner

What's up guys, I've lurked for awhile on here but finally made an account to post. I compete in the 220/242 weight class.
My best lifts are 655lb squat with wraps, 645 deadlift, 390 pause bench. Im heading towards a 1800-1850 total next year and plan on doing ipl worlds.

Welcome

Welcome aboard. You should consider starting a log here in the cycle log section. I'd love to follow and see what your training looks like and I'm sure I'm not the only one.

Honestly man, I cruise most of the year. I squat twice a week, bench twice a week and deadlift once a week. Squat and bench are a heavy day and a speed day. High volume.

Not much different than what I do honestly.
I do a lot of accessory work and hypertrophy work too.
Next month I'm probably going to do a 20 week blast of 750mg of sust a week and 500mg deca a week. Cruise for 6 weeks and then run like 500mg of test for 10 weeks or so. Cruise until I'm 10 weeks out from ipl worlds and then test/tren ace and 2 weeks out anadrol.

Interesting approach. I'm going to nationals next summer and I'm still undecided what my blast is going to be.

Well, woke up in pain and the wife forced me to the ER. They scheduled surgery for today... fuck me. Idk how long recovery will take, or when I'll be in the gym again.

@220elite was your squat always as good or better than your deadlift? I've heard it said that as you get more advanced that eventually your squat will catch up with your deadlift. Just wondering if that was your experience or if you were always a strong squatter.

My squat is a little over 100lbs under my deadlift, but the gap seems to be closing. I've also been off deadlift for a bit due to injury, so that might be part of it, too.

Most people at a elite level have a higher squat than deadlift if they use wraps. I was an Olympic weight lifter before I started powerlifting. So I was squatting every day. I didn't directly train my deadlift for like 4 years. The squat carries over to the deadlift but not really vice versa. That's why I really only train my deadlift once a week. If it's lagging behind sometimes twice a week. A speed day where I pull from a deficit with bands and then a heavy/volume day sometimes from blocks.

Yeah, I know. I was just wondering how it went for you, but with not starting out doing deadlift it's impossible to say.

I've pulled just over 600lbs at a meet and squatted just over 500lbs, both at 198lbs (actually weighed in at 191lbs). Even before the injury it seemed like my squat had started progressing faster than my deadlift. I think I'm more of a natural deadlifter and I struggled with squats for years, but I'm finally starting to get good at them.

They've always been about even for me. They're usually within 10-20lbs of each other. I'm hoping for high 6's or maybe even 700 this year on squat and deadlift.

I'm hoping for mid to high 500's on squat and mid 600's on deadlift by summer 2017.

I wasn't able to train deadlift much for a few months leading up to my last meet. Just did squats, box squats and good mornings and still managed an all time deadlift PR at the meet.

Same here man. My last meet I competed with a torn meniscus and a broken hand. I couldn't bench or deadlift for like 6 weeks going into the meet. GHR's, and sled pulls are awesome for the deadlift too.

I wish we had a GHR and sled at my gym. I go to the only gym in a small town and it doesn't have much in the way of specialty equipment. They did recently get a buffalo bar and that's been a game changer for me.
