Meso Powerlifting Corner

Nice work. Not only would I not have the strength for that many reps but no way I would have the air for it.
I find it's easier to not gas out without a belt on so I'm tending to do my AMRAPs no belt and that way I also don't push beyond my limits and call it at a safe number.

Got 405 for 12 today on deadlifts. Off the juice entirely and weighing 189 morning weight. Not too bad considerin it was after 6x3 deficit deadlifts and 5x6 bench. Fresh I think I could crank 15 out cause even number 12 moved fast but being beltless and fatigued didn't want to grind the 13th rep out

Way to go man! Im out of breath just reading that hahaha

Awesome. Im totally off the juice myself and feeling good and strong. Back to 531 for my deadlift as i push towards 600 for 2017

You guys are really making me miss deadlift. It's been two months since I've done any and I'm going to give it till next month to make sure this injury heals. Hoping the time off didn't hurt me too much.

Started the reverse pyramid bench program @Oregongearhead suggested. It is going to take some getting used to starting with your heaviest set first. Did 285 for three and it did feel heavy but then again I have not benched in quite a while so I know as the month goes by this weight will not feel as heavy I also think I need to do a better warm-up. But I like it and I'm going to stick with it.

@CAswole ---he doesnt list a warm-up but heres my basic warm-up for benching :
115 x 5 reps
135 x 5 reps
165 x 3 reps
205 x 3 reps
235 x 1 rep ....ready for max lifts .

Yeah that sounds about right. And I guess just modify it as the weight gets heavier or you get up into the mid 300s. Thx ogh

You can adjust my warm-up plus or minus 10-15lbs , adjust to your strength . Everyone warms-up different , some guys just do push-ups then start heavy benching....

Lets hear from lifters whats your basic bench warm-up routine look like ?? o_O

40-50 push ups for me then some tricep extensions, hammer curls followed by a few sets of 135x10

Seems counter productive but the extensions and curls seem to tighten everything up around my shoulder and it keeps it from hurting. Hit 315 for a double a couple weeks ago.:D probably do a lot better if I followed some kind of structured plan.

The problem with reverse pyramid training is the warm-up , dont lift too many warm-up sets then try for maxes .You want to still be fresh when you attempt 275x3 or 300x1

I know guys that just walk in and lift heavy without a warmup:eek:. I probably do too much but if I don't feel kind of tight/slight pump I don't feel like I can activate half the muscles I need.

Yea im gonna make my second attempt at a better warm up this Tuesday. Like OGH said about not too many sets is really important. What i found out the first time i did it is that 285 x 3 for the first set felt very heavy. But u don't want to do too many warm up sets cuz then your essentially doing a regular pyramid...ugh. But ill dial it in right after a few times i think. Also going to throw in some shoulder mobility/rotator cuff light band work too. I also do a few light sets of pulldowns to get some blood in my lats to kinda shelf the weight. I like the way that feels.

So fun day I was cleaning up my shiet and although I've given all my stuff away to a buddy minus some deca that I'll give him once he is on his next cycle (didn't want to give him the whole stache at once and I'm make his first cycle stupid long with multiple compounds) anyways I found 5 halo tabs. Here is my thing I'm not looking at any cycle anytime soon s should I just pop em for a heavy trang session or space them 1 at a ke to help break pleateau days?
