Meso Powerlifting Corner

Hey guys, was working on form today, after a 6 day deload. Any critique?

Braced.
Leg drive.
Kept elbows tight.
Stayed tight through out.

Much improved. As was mentioned shoot video from the side next time and we can give a better evaluation. This video was at a tough angle to judge much from.

I got to visit a "hardcore" weightlifting gym last night. Really cool place but extremely for lack of a better term "ghetto". Guys there must have finally got used to me didn't seem near as hostile this time.lol

The only hardcore gym near me is the one that Pete rubbish use to train at. Since I'm moving to Tennessee though, I have no point in switching gyms. Plus the gym owner right now lets me deadlift and doesn't care if the weights get slammed as long as it's on the deadlifting platform. Hardcore gym memberships are definitely worth the money though. Lots of motivation just stepping into one.

Well this one is only $20 a month but it's 20+ miles away from me cinder block building no ac. Seen two guys hit 515 for doubles on bench  but to be fair I think one of them weighed atleast that much.o_O

Damn that's cheap as hell. They are usually more expensive than that. Still impressive no matter how much you weigh in my opinion. Obviously the smaller you are the more impressive it would be. I would love to have a gym around where I live like the one Jeremy Hamilton trains at.

That's like the gym I go to. $25 a month, but it's 30 minutes from where I live and in the unfinished basement of an old ass brick building. The only reason I go is because you can slam the weights around and grunt all you want and no one bats an eye.

The gym I normally go to is on the way to work and I go early in the morning and I get away with a lot.lol The one I went to last night nobody cares what you do. Although I did get alot of looks the first time I went there probably the first white guy to step in the door.;)

So I'm having a bit of an issue with my front squats and snatch, although I'm hitting PRs and all my numbers in slow motion I've got a very noticeable issue my thoracic spine won't arch. I have fractured 3 vetabre in my thoracic spine but I'm wondering if there is some movement or mobility motion that's specific for fixing thoracic spine mobility and posture. I am really hoping that being stupid a few years ago isn't going to become a limiting factor for my weightlifting as I'm signed up for a comp in January to get my beak wet. Powerlifting I've found every angle needed to avoid any issues with this but in weightlifting I can't avoid it I've got to fix it now
Sorry I'm so late to the party, Dude. I'd go straight to a physiotherapy practitioner for this - they will be able to do a proper assessment AND give you safe exercises to sort it out. Worth the time/effort/money to get it sorted, pal. Randall

Sorry I didn't mention the injury was 4 years ago I've have 4 MRIs and its structurally stable to exercise and I did my rehab for a long time, reoccurring problem with the injury is limited mobility that I use gravity boots to decompress my spine as well as release the nerve between my T5 and T6 vertibraes which gets impinged and hurts like a mother for about 30 seconds then makes my right arm numb and tingly but once it's decompressed goes away slowely (over a few hours) I'm thinking it's more a muscular issue because I've always found a way to not incorporate that zone in order to avoid the pain. Did my first set of heavy snatch shrugs today off of blocks which hit it really well but between sets I had to hang from a pull up bar

Man reading this makes me feel like a bitch when I take it easy on days my shoulder or knee are acting up:(

Man all depends on the injury and how you can work around it, had a knee injury that prevented me from squatting body weight even. Sometimes going lights whatcha gotta do
Torn labrum with some scar tissue they think but can't tell more in till I get some dye in there and an mri

Yes to this. I'm doing a full meet shortly and will be lucky to get a 315 squat due to knee issues. But I want to a national meet which is full power only that I need to qualify for so I don't have a choice.

I don't see why they don't just do the dye from the fricken start every time I've gotten 8 MRIs now for 3 different things and each one they did the regular then said it was hard to tell so had to redo with the dye and for my back had to go back 3 months later to see healing then again at the 5 month mark to make sure it was structurally sound for the job I was looking to do.

I don't know how Healthcare actually works in Canada but in the US they do that to collect as much as they can from the insurance.

Yes that is about the standard rate. A few CF gyms around me are $150/month. While it may seem like a rip off, most of them are classes and or personal training. They generally only have 2 days a week that are open gym. Me and a buddy are heavily considering opening a CF/personal training gym.
I understand that man, but shit.. it's nearly an empty gym, with just barbells and row machines, and some rings. Just seemed kinda pointless when the WODs are free, lol.

Also, the PL gym close to me is only $10 /mo lol

2 other guys I shared this with got 305lbs doing the 12 week method . If you have a hard time getting over 275-280lbs max or 225 for 5 reps then use the 12 week method . Like I said earlier I did it in 6 weeks but I was almost there (290lbs) anyways and I was cycling so my recupe powers were better . I got 305 in 6 weeks . 315 2 weeks later...
Hey thx for this OGH. im going to be doing the follow up thread i saw at the ends of the article you posted which is how to bench 400. It'll take a year but im not goin anywhere...
