Meso Powerlifting Corner

Well, it was my last heavy session today before the 2nd of 3 competitions this year.

It went really well, especially squat, so I'm hoping to add some decent amounts to my previous bests. The comp is this weekend. Wish me luck.
What kind of total you shooting for? Have confidence in the training you've done thus far and start visualizing those big lifts! Make it happen!
 
Events for strongman comp. I'm doing have been posted. Unless I lose some weight, the two event I'm most concerned about are the 750lb yoke walk, and 600 deadlift for reps in 60 sec.

If I can come in under 231, I can knock a little weight off both of those. Weighed 234 last Thursday, and between the training for this and some supplements I'm using I don't foresee myself dropping weight without effort that would probably negatively impact my strength.

I've got right at 11 weeks. Will have a yoke and stones to train with within the next two weeks. Game plan is to get a feel for how training is going and decide where I need weight to be at 7-8 weeks out and act accordingly.

what is the organization? ive been looking into doing a Strongman comp in the spring, but most ive seen have different "levels". From my understanding its Level II, Level I and Pro. Sounds like thats a top tier level

Strongman Corp. (Amateur NAS, level 1 competition)

I could do the novice, it's open weight class but the weights used are the same as if I drop down one class , so not much advantage from what I'm guessing.

i was looking into doing a Strongman Corp event also.
That is a really heavy Yoke walk. im not sure how much the Yoke at my gym weighs, but i was doing some walks this weekend with 8-45s and 4 25's and it was rather brutal. also that deadlift seems kind of heavy for rep work from the other events ive seen. normally around 450-550 for reps.

my biggest concern with competing is any overhead pressing movement. as im TERRIBLE with OHP
 
I'm good with the OHP , not worried there.


And I agree about the Deadlifting weight they chose. I looked at the results for last year, they did a max deadlift and no one in my weight class pulled over 585. So this year they change to for reps @ 600?

Didn't make sense to me but whatever. I'll train my ass off and do what I can do.

First session back at the gym yesterday since the comp (on Sunday).
Squats went really well, but were hard, bench and deads both a nightmare. Had to dial them down quite a bit and still only just finished my sets... Need more recovery, especially as not only natty, but getting fuck all sleep just now because of my babies. Sigh.

Kids change everything. Thats the numero uno priority
 
Anyone follow Larry wheels on IG? Idk if he's been hacked or what but he keeps plugging some lab. It's kind of annoying , mainly for the reason that I'm sure he has a lot of kids 18 and under that look up to him. Of course we all know he uses gear. But blatantly plugging a source? And on IG?

Idk,maybe I just expect these guys to take their very limited fame too seriously
