Meso Powerlifting Corner

I have some en route right now...be the first time I've ever tried halo. Been chasing a 405 bench for the last two years and keep getting to 375-395 then having major tendinitis in my elbows and having to back off for a while. Hoping to blast past that

Im sure you'll get it, but beware, halo isnt like a lot of PEDs where you have to build up. On the first dose you will have immediate strength gains. But without the Halo it will be less. Meaning on your first day you may get your 405, but the next session without it will be harder.

Good to know man, thanks

Well, I let myself down today. 505 squat, 395 bench, 585 deads.

Missed my third squat at 515. We used a shitty rack and I tapped one of the safeties on one side and threw me off. That set me back ten lbs off the rip.

Made up for it in bench by pushing 395. That left me needing 600 even to get the 1500 total I wanted.

555 first, killed it. 585, killed it. I was already feeling tired before we started pulling. It took a lot longer today , they're was a bunch more guys and two girls. I was crashing at the end and when I attempted 600 I got it just below my knees and just didn't have the gas to grind it out.

Totaled 1485.

Only person who beat me was my good friend and he finished with 1635 or 45.

do you know the squats with a table under the heel? what do you think of that?My knees going to out,so the table help to my knees.

Funny post from Brandon Lilly on Facebook this morning:

I need to apologize to everyone that has followed my powerlifting advice. Here's some things the internet corrected for me.

1: Getting stronger isn't most important. It's more important to maintain your strength, and drop 2 weight classes for your first real competition.

2. Total? What is that? It's all about the Wilks.

3. Ray Williams, Vlad Alhazov, and Eddie Hall's lifts are irrelevant because there lifts aren't 3x bodyweight or more. Of course Ray gets some bonus points because he walks out his squats, and is in sleeves.

4. If you use AAS you basically have zero strength without them. They are so potent that they will instantly put you on the Mr Olympia stage if you do them.

5. Geared powerlifting is actually worse than AAS. Squat suits are like fork lifts, and bench shirts do 100% of the work. Actually scientifically tested at 103% of the work.

6. Federations don't matter. Unless it's your federation. Then it's the best.

7. More important than total, weight classes, or Wilks is your Likes and Followings. It's totally acceptable to burn your gym down, and embarrass your family name to get more Followers.

*Edit- for 2018 I'm starting a fed that has a squat that sees who can walk it out the farthest then squat. Distance x Weight / Weight Class= Winner

At the end of the day being strong is so 1995.

I don't read that but it's so fucking relevant. At the meet I just did numurous guys at weight ins were talking about cutting 15+ pounds to compete in 181's. Just compete in 198's and grow into your class ya nerds. If you're not posting up international elite totals, I don't see a reason to cut more than 5-7 pounds.

That being said, I cut for this meet with general ease over the last 2 weeks leading into it. It was only like 6-7pounds and was super easy. Literally just removed my daily oatmeal on non lifting days and weighed in at 240.3 down from 248.

I was talking to a guy at my gym earlier he asked how I did. Told him it went well, 7/9 yadda yadda. I don't even know what my total was off the top of my head. I just know I PR'd bench and deads, squats went 3/3 and I didn't get hurt. I feel like people stress numbers too much rather than enjoying this shit. As long as I PR and most important, DONT GET INJURED, I'm happy.

I'm conflicted when it comes to dropping weight classes for combat or strength sports.

Part of me understands. Part of me knows it makes very little sense in most instances, especially in combat sports. When everyone cuts weight day before / day of, and actually fights at a body weight ten lbs heavier, what's the point... ?

I'm going to quote another member from a couple days ago but for the life of me I can't recall who I am quoting here.

I'm such a Pussy :(
