Meso Powerlifting Corner

Thanks dude, that was the one I was leaning toward getting. What style of wrap do you use?

I like rebound over concrete wraps. I'm actually done with knee wraps in competition because it's just too much hassle to wrap yourself in time for each attempt. My next full power meet will be in sleeves. Will still utilize wraps in training for overload purposes.

How do I know if I even really need it?
Unless they help with some sort of prebious injury I wouldn't say you ever "need" wraps. Most of us can squat heavier weight in them, so there's an advantage to training in them, but in competition everyone else will be using them if that's the class you choose so the competitive advantage isn't there really .

Im with Perrin. I train in mine (wraps) occasionally now, but a good set of sleeves is my go to.

The only reason I ever got wraps was because my first meet was APA and they allowed wraps and sleeves in the same division. I'm trying to do the most weight possible within the rules of the meet, so I got wraps. I did two more meets with wraps in a different federation just because I started out using them, but I'm just tired of messing with them. Sleeves from here out for me. Even in training wraps are so much of a pain in the ass I only want to use them occasionally. You'll see if you get some.

I think I'm gonna stay without them. My right knee has been hurting and I almost tapped out on my last set of squats recently, but if you guys are talking about going without wraps at a powerlifting meet, I would sure feel like a pussy using them. My lifts are nothing even close to you guys. I just thought it might be smart of me to use them, but yesterday my knee was alright, it might've been low estrogen.

My bench is beating my squat right now and I don't really understand why, I guess genetics is some of the reason.

Get knee sleeves. My bench and squat were pretty close my first couple years of lifting. It was because I didn't really know how to squat properly. If I were you I'd really look at form.

Go with sleeves. The warmth and a little compression may be all you need.

I had my first ever bout with knee pain a few weeks ago .

Luckily it cleared up after a little time off using it , but it's made me much more cautious. I'm stopping all my squats just below parallel now, no more ass to grass,

although I honestly think I hurt it lapping a log for log press.

I've only used sleeves, but live with constant knee pain. Funny thing is, squats make them feel better for a day, then they start hurting again. I've been thinking of using wraps to protect my knees just a little more.

I just tore my quad a little bit squatting. I can't crouch very good and it feels pretty sore. How long will it take to heal and what should I do? Goddamnit superdrol made me too strong for my body. I'm almost ready to switch to bodybuilding, I'm way to early in the game for this to be happening. I squated 275 for 6 after 4 warm-up sets and then I decided to attempt 295 for 5 and it tore a little at the bottom of the first rep.

It's such a bummer, I was going to smash that set too, I felt so strong. It happened a little bit 4 days ago on my second set with 275, but I wasn't really sure what it was. It was still a little sore today from that when I started.

One of our female members went 10 for 10 with no red lights setting PR's in all three lifts and breaking her own national records in each lift ( in one of the major feds) yesterday. All three lifts and her total are International Elite numbers.

An awesome performance by a talented lifter and a good person who deserves all of the success she is having.

Awesome. Congrats to whomever it was!

If it was at the meet I'm thinking of, looked like and awesome meet. Had a few friends compete.

How's lifting going for you @Masters Power? Doing holding up?

Still hitting it everyday but I'm looking at a couple of fairly major surgeries in the next year so there is likely to be some down time coming.

How is everything your way?

Lifting stuff is getting better. My hip and back are feeling better. Still not quite 100% but getting there. Just working on building weaknesses and work capacity right now.

Personal life took a major turn in an amazing direction.

I'll hit you with a PM here in the next couple days.
