Meso Powerlifting Corner

Tried that and dropped the 45 plate after 10 seconds...

Can hold a 25 for nearly a full minute.

Changing topic a bit... has anyone been following Ben Pollack lately? How the hell did he go from 238-260 in 4 months, and stay fucking ripped? That’s a hell of a cycle.

He's always been shredded, great genetics. You'll find he's also very strict on diet if you watch some of his nutrition content. Ben's hair left the party real fucking fast when he got bigger... I have always gotten the impression based on that and his body comp that there was a lot of masteron going on there.

Another thing, I think there's really something to be said about all the heavy lifting he does in maintaining the lean body comp. Peak of bulk or pre contest.. he was deadlifting heavy fucking weights.

He’s about 275 and pretty damn lean. I think it’s been over the last year and a half -2 years. Still amazing, he went full bodybuilding and has done a few shows

hahah. I noticed that about 2-3 years ago he had a full head of hair. Shit, if mast is that powerful I need to try it -I think you’re spot on with the high intensity too. Dude is deadlifting 700+ For reps, right before a BB show lol.

Shit I follow him and didn’t realize he got to 275 already. Lol...he’s prepping for BB while still training to hit 2300 raw. Fucking animal.

As a side note on Ben Pollack: Ben’s “Unfuck your Program” 12 week routines are pretty fantastic. I ran a couple a few years back and I’d highly recommend trying them.

I think he has a long way to go to be winning bodybuilding shows but we haven’t seen very many 2 sport (powerlifting/bodybuilding) athletes in a while. I think Stan Efferding is the most notable of late.

I tried it with a hexagonal 40lb dumbbell the other day. It was harder than a 45lb plate.

I've started eyeballing different implements at the gym to try the pinches with but most stuff has ridges on it that makes it either easy to lift or semi impossible. I don't know how you guys are pinching single 45lb iron plates, there's only like a half an inch of surface area on the side with etching.

My usual gym has plate dumbbells, I'll have to try it at my other gym when masks are less of a thing. I would have guessed DB's would be easier but it's hard to gauge...

My grip is trash after reading this ,lol. I think it pretty strong with a barbell and never had any issues pulling refrigerant drums up to a roof with a rope or putting pipe together but I can’t do any of these except farmers carry

Tried the two 25's and it's easier than one 45 due to the surface area like you said. Just pinching an iron plate with fingertips is stupid hard. Bumper 45's at my gym are easier with an extra couple inches of space. Being able to wrap your hand around the tops on the two 25's seems to help too. With the iron plate you have to pinch higher to keep from cheating and can't do it. Can't with the bumper either, but do get a little more surface area on your fingers.

Gonna explore this pretty much every day while I'm cutting so I can feel like I'm making progress on something while all my lifts go down. Going to start a thread on it.

I’ll give it a try later, I think I can do this one

The SSB or barbell?

I am annoyed when the SSB isn't setup in the rack for me on Fridays.

It just occurred to me a few weeks ago that all of my SSB numbers were high by 25lbs... I hadn't used it in a while and added it back into my programming and started treating it like 45lb bar.
