Meso Powerlifting Corner

I knew I wasnt the only one. Of course you were 13 and could blame your coach, I only have myself to blame.

And 13? Youve been at this awhile!
Well I started at 13. A knee and then back surgery ended my competing a few years after. I started up again about 6 years ago.
Well THAT time I could blame the coach. I've had plenty of other moments that were absolutely embarrassing.

Update: met with the doc. Got a clean bill of health (well besides the problems I already had/have). :D

On the flip side, I cant chew with my front teeth and my chin is killing me. Hopefully its just temporary.

Now that im "healthy" time to start going crazy hard in the gym. Irresponsibly hard. PRs are coming!

Glad to hear it Jay

Good to hear, Jay. We'll be expecting massive PRs from you in the weeks to come.

You don't need to chew whey. Steak however... that's one of the saddest things ever. No. I don't suggest putting a porterhouse through the blender, bro.

Anyone else in here doing PH3? It's a hybrid PL/BB type program by Layne Norton but it still puts you squatting 3 days a week and benching 3 days a week. Deadlift x2 a week. I've been on it 9 weeks and I really like it. I don't think it's the best peaking program necessarily but I've gotten stronger on all my lifts so far and look better as well.

That's great to hear Jay. There were a lot of people pulling for you. No pun intended. pulling...get it. I'm sure it was hard on you mentally. Congrats brother.

Since we have so many new people, Im wondering what programs everyone is running and how you like them? Also whats the best program youve run to date?

Im on week 6 of westside barbell. Liking it so far because you can change main lifts and accesories week by week so it stays fresh. Plus im gaining on my big 3 (except bench, but thats due to injury) and looking better than I ever have. Only downside is its programmed for 4 days a week; 2 lower, 2 upper and I want to squat 3 days a week.

Just hit a new paused bench PR 415lbs. Had no intentions on going for max but I worked up to 370 for an easy triple and felt strong so took 390 for a double which was a rep PR. Then I said the addicts/powerlifter anthem 'fuck it' lololol let's set a new PR. Failed 415 on my first attempt, watched the video, came back and smashed it. That's on low test, no other compounds, no peaking.

425 in May seems possible. Let's fucking gooooo.

Ran Brandon Lilly's cube method last. Really liked it. Running a program from Eric Lilliebridge at the moment. Fucking love it. breaking PR's every heavy week.

Still hitting Westside. Love the variety and having to self-examine my lifts for their weak points. Only negative for me is the strain on the body makes me need 9+ hours of sleep which i rarely get. If I get 6-8 hours, I'm a zombie all day.

Jay- If you want to add another squatting movement to your week, do some sled/prowler pushes/drags. If you don't have access to one, push cars. Good for recovery and improving GPP.

My gym actually has a sled. Do I just do push/pulls for time or distance? What would you suggest?

I figured I'd ask this question on the powerlifting thread as i'm sure this is where I'd get the best advice. I've been strength training and all my lifts are going up (Strict OP, Bench, DL) except my squat. I've been squatting twice a week, but even when it feels like I'm getting stronger, I can never surpass my 1rm. Any suggestions on break it? I am thinking of squatting three times a week
