Right on bro, keep it up!!!

Nice, I'm also a keep it simple guy. You've got almost 100lbs on me total wise, but I've gotten where I am mostly just doing the big three and doing them often. I'm about to try Sheiko out for a couple months and it's got some chain work, so should be interesting since I've never used them.
I'll have to look that up. My coach has helped me a lot but I feel like I need to always be trying new things. Might try something like that after my meet in May.

I'm planning on trying out some coaching this year. I just finished up a routine based on Dr. Zourdos' DUP template with some extras I added from other programs that worked for me. Worked out pretty well as a meet prep. Sheiko comes recommended here and it was something I wanted to try anyway. I'd like to give Westside a go eventually just because I've never trained anything like that before.

As most of you know I was in the hospital last week and lost some weight. Since Ive been out Ive gained about half back and feeling good (and looking good). I changed up my diet a little after I got out to keep the fat off. Dropped cals from 6k to 5kish and dropped carbs about 100g per day (from 500 to 400ish)).

My problem is while doing my heavy lifts this week ive been getting tired quicker and really light headed on the max effort reps. Do you think this is due to the recent rapid weight loss or due to the cut in carbs? Or maybe a combo? Thanks.

Both. Bro take it easy! I don't know exactly what you were in the hospital for but I know you weren't eating like normal. Give your body a chance to recover and refuel. Do some light work three or four days per week and throw in a little light cardio to build your endurance again.

When you are depleted of food and water, specially when your training and eating the way that you have been, you need to slowly build back up to that. It's like peaking for competition, I don't go from doing 5x5 75% to hitting PRs. Same thing goes for you recovering and building up to max effort sessions.

Trust me I know you just want to drag cars and run through walls, but don't overdo it. But what do I know, I'm just a big dumb powerlifter lololol.

Trust me, I am going slow...for me. But I do have to realize my ME now isnt going to be what it was before the sudden weight loss.

Ok. Funny Story. Im in the gym doing OHPs yesterday. Im on my last set (not too much weight, had 195 on) and on the way down I missed getting the barbell on the rack. No problem, its too easy to lift that side back up. But Ive gotten in the bad habit of not using collars so I can dump weight if needed. So when I missed the weights fell off one side, the barbell flips, bust me square in the chin, and hits the ground. Weights everywhere. No real injuries, when it hit my chin I grinded the shit outta my teeth so I had a lil bit of ground up tooth in my mouth, and my chin still hurts. But mostly my pride from everyone looking at me when it happened.

I normally wear a mouth guard on my heavy lifts incase I bite my tongue (which has happened before), but I'll now keep one in incase that ever happens to me hahaha :p

Damn Jay. Im glad you're injury free, and I must say that you certainly know how to bring back memories. I had a similar experience the first time I competed. I was 13 years old and was squatting in the warm-up room under the eye of my coach. My coach hadn't placed the collars on, and when I went to re-rack the weight....the plates went spilling off the bar, crashing to the ground. It was so loud that everyone stopped the meet to rush back and see what had happened. I was completely mortified! Then adding insult to injury, the bar had whipped back and hit me on the side of the head, causing a nice goose egg to form. So I had to compete with a giant knot on my forehead. Reminding everyone that "I" was the one who had the mishap in the warm-up area. It looked like I had a small tumor growing out of my head. So I know what you mean when you refer to injured pride.

I knew I wasnt the only one. Of course you were 13 and could blame your coach, I only have myself to blame.

And 13? Youve been at this awhile!

I'm not sure how I haven't seen this thread before. But anyhow. I plan on doing my first meet this year sometime. I just finally pulled 500 for the first time ever. lots of great stuff and people in here.

Welcome aboard and congrats on the 500 pull. Find you one close and just have fun your first time, don't worry about making weight or hitting any certain numbers. Plenty of time for that later.

Yeah. That's the plan. Gonna try and do one close and not worry about weight classes. I've been training like 2.5 years and have came a long way but still a long way to go.
