Meso Powerlifting Corner

Damn glad to see you're back in the gym man. Hopefully the weights moved smoothly, and you haven't drop much in regards to training poundage.
You are squatting in socks? Use caution when doing that man. Keep us posted on everything.

Yeah. I bought the chucks but they were hurting me feet (no cushion) and my knee (i dont know why). So I took them off and finished a session in socks and it went smooth. We have the padded floors, so Im not too worried about slipping.
I want to buy some good shoes (and some other stuff) but I found out ill be leaving where Im at soon so I cant order anything. So ill make due for now.

Questions for anyone here: Whats the most times youre squatting in a week and what variations do you use? Thanks.

I usually squat 3x a week, but I've done 4x before. I do mostly low bar with occasional high bar, front squat and paused squat and go beltless at times.

I usually squat twice a week depending on what I'm doing with deadlifts. One day I'll go heavy I.e. 3 sets of 5, 3 sets of 3, 3 sets of 1. Another day I'll go light with strict form pause squats, 4 sets of 12. If we're being honest it's the high rep pause squats that really smoke me, I love it.

3-4x a week. Have done as much as 5 for brief periods.

Variants I've done:

High bar, oly, front, 2sec pause, 3sec pause, 5sec pause, 2sec ppl front pause, box

Back in the game after 4 days in the hospital having tests run on me. 4 days with no food or water...at all. Dropped from 241 to 229. :(
Ill spend a day or so getting some carbs and cals in me and see what kind of weight I can move as a skinny guy.
I wish I could weigh 229 after not hearing for four days. Never broke past 215. Good luck on the recovery man, what doesn't kill you makes you a helluva lot stronger

3x a week. Do back squats with paused high bar for day 1. Do front squat with paused sumo back squat day 2. SSB squat with Hatfield squats day 3. Try that for 4 weeks.

So squat rack didn't work in living room (hardwood floor 0 deadlift 1, cracked the hardwood testing out with deadlift) so it's in the garage now, little cramped but on the plus side I'm going to get really good at pool and darts and have something to do between sets

I realize it was a space issue, but you were gonna put your rack in the living room? Damn. Hell of a convo starter when company comes over.

Thanks. And welcome. Always good to have another PLer with some knowledge and experience around (and some impressive ass numbers).
Watch out for @Docd187123, he is smart, motivating, hard working etc., but he also has some sort of evil plan for powerlifters that I havent figured out yet.
Also one of our members is an actual bear.

I don't entertain much at all... Never... I never entertain company so it would have been perfect plus I could watch Netflix while lifting which would have been cool. My next option was the kitchen so I wouldn't have to go far for my post workout meal but unfortunately it's not a large kitchen. So garage it was lol.

Docs defiantly the guy to watch out for he's got plans on top of his plans I just get that feeling

I hit a new PR on my deadlift on Friday AFTER my 60% speed squats and speed pulls! 475 for a perfect single! It was a 50lb PR up from October. If I had access to a REAL deadlift bar that would have been 500lbs. I WANT THAT 500 LB DEADLIFT!!! Not gunna lie, the TNE definitely helped. I want to lift something heavy that day.:D

Eh, you can cut, but it's best to do VERY gradually. Although, there are guys that manage to drop a ton of water weight (to the point they get to a dangerous electrolyte imbalance) just to make weight and then get IV fluids after they make weight so they can lift. Not recommended though.

First Day back on the program after about a week and a half off and 8.5 lbs off (after I gained some back).

Strength was down a little. But luckily my stamina was down a lot. :(

This is a reminder to never ever ever ever cut under any circumstances. Ever.

@jaymaximus I read this half tired going to bed and laughed myself outa bed! You'll get it all back and then some man! Especially if you consider supplementing ;) your diet with a little vitamin S

Not why he was cutting my man. Gotta go back a few pages and read up to stay current :p:(

Also Ive decided to be lazy. Since we are both doing westside Im going to wait for you to post and just copy your training. Except instead of chains Im going to use midgets or kids hanging on the barbell. Its cheaper.
