I might be taking some PEDs

But seriously, you may have a proficiency for them and not even know it yet, unless you're one of the very few I'd bet it starts getting ahead of your squat soon.

I did my first DL in prison in 2012, 245x3, I remember it well. There was this skinny dude that could do 405x3 and I couldn't imagine ever lifting that much. 405 was the biggest bar you could get, all the bars were pre loaded with plates and welded on from 95lbs to 405lbs. Carrying them to where you wanted to lift was fun as you can imagine. Only option for going heavier was tying dumbbells on with something. Anyway, most I ever got there was 315x3. I never enjoyed deadlifts while I was there though.

Fast forward to 2013 I was home on house arrest and only had those junk concrete weights. Biggest plate was smaller than a 25. I loaded the bar with everything I had and tied whatever extra I could and I figured it to be 275. I got to where I did this for sets of 10 every week.

Five months later I got a gym membership and pulled 335x3 the first day. Around a month later I pulled 405x1 for the first time. I was really into deadlifting at this point. Six months later I pulled my first 500x1. Funny to watch the videos now because I was so skinny and my form sucked. It was around six more months later I pulled 555 at a meet. Took another year to get 600.

Anyway, that's my cool story for the day. The point was I didn't really make hardly any progress until I figured out what worked for me and then it came really fast. You may find your groove and add 100lbs in a few months. It's 100% possible.

Hey hey hey, youre popular to me. I would talk to you more if you didnt keep letting real life get in the way of whats really important...a steroid forum full of your lifting bros! Priorities man...:p
Well damn. Bro hug deserved right there. lol. I know man, real life always gets in the way of the good stuff. I would call it a lifters heaven here, but for that to happen Julia Vins would have to be involved somehow:) I'm a fan of hers as well Jay.

Muscle barbe is my go to material! She's close enough to my age that I can dream we get married and make freakishly strong babies

IM with jay on this you cool with me and I wouldn't go so far as to say popular just someone who had unlimited data and time to kill so I pop my nose into every thread lol
Well it's great to have individuals, such as yourself, around here that have so much training knowledge. The area where I am from, it is difficult to find someone that wont look at me like im a carnival oddity, anytime I begin talking about training.

Same here. I don't have anyone I can talk to about PL here. There's a couple guys at my gym that compete in strongman and that's as close as it gets in my little town.

I feel your pain bro. There is no one in my town that PL's in my town at the moment. I am very limited in my training since I don't really have a PL friendly gym to train at. It makes for many awkward moments as well. This one may be hard to believe... One time as I was squatting, I had a kid come over in the middle of my set, and begin pulling a plate off. WTF!!! I was in total disbelief it was happening. I dumped the bar, and began staring at him. I was so pissed that I was at a loss for words. He ended up walking away, and I havent seen him in there again. THAT is the special kind of stupid that I have to deal with at my gyms around here.

Luckily my gym is PL compatible I'll call it. They have a power rack, platform and allow chalk. All the lower body equipment is in a separate room and you know how many people actually do legs, so that room is pretty empty most of the time. The adventurous non lifters might do a leg machine circuit every now and then, extensions, curls, calf raises, etc.

I wouldn't trust anyone with giving me a spot and not touching the bar though.

Off the current topic, but while you're here how long did it take you to get from 600 to 700 on deadlift?

I get a lot of the comments about aren't I afraid my nuts will fall off trying to deadlift so much weight or hurt my back. A lot of when I hit x number they ask if I'm done now and can quit, too.
I hear it all the time as well man. I am always asked if I will quit when I hit an 800 squat or deadlift. I always respond with a question... Why would I stop if I hit 8? After all, if I hit 800 I can surely hit 900 right?

I WISH my gym was that friendly to powerlifting. Much of my training is done after hours, when the staff have left. That way I can get away with much more.

Well it is difficult to say for the deadlift. I was stuck around 650-675 for over a year before I changed up my training, and it allowed my numbers to begin moving once again. If i had to give an approximate number on a time frame, I suppose I would have to say it was close to 2.5 years.

If I had the set up, I would do the same as well. Ive slowly been building up equipment for a personal gym. I keep it all in storage for now, but eventually when I have the space, I will begin setting up my own private gym.
I love it. Id like some more dbs and a nice mat but I'm good with what I have. A rack, bars, bench , 720lbs of oly plates, and about 200 in the smaller weights for curl bars n adjustable dbs etc. and a dip attachment for my rack. Some bands n stuff too but I usually use those for cheating on chins- lol[emoji33].
After dbol weight has left I'm at 268 so my chin ups suck. I can get 3 without help. I stopped doing em a couple months back but am going to add them back in slowly.

Sounds like you have the essentials for a damn good training session. When I have more funds, I will probably pick up a few more pieces from Rogue.
As for chin ups, I am mediocre at them. I have just recently began to implement them back in myself. Since I cant do my normal pressing routine due to a nagging injury, I have began mixing it up, and attempting to increase my general overall work capacity.

I was estimating it would take about two. Adding AAS to the equation last year makes it hard to judge.

I love chin ups, being heavy makes them harder for sure, but it's just something you've got to stick with. Lat pull downs don't compare at all in my opinion.

This amongst other reasons is why I put together my own home pl gym. Now the only one I hear it from is my wife. When I benched 400 in competition last year which had been a goal for a couple of years that was basically her response.

My little lady is very supportive of what I do, but I still hear the same from her. It is usually when she happens to be in the gym at the same time I am. She knows what I do, but she hates to see it. The one time she was actually in the gym when I had a severe nose bleed in the middle of a deadlift set, she came unglued. It took more effort calming her down than the effort I had put into the set. Congrats on the meet pr btw.

Haven't been around much lately due to work and too many douches in other threads here. Off season training currently but did hit a close grip PR of 380 last week. Close grip for me is pinkies on the smooth.

@Strength and Power sorry to hear about the pec. Part of the game most of us are way too familiar with. Hopefully it heals quickly.
Glad to hear your training is going well. Thanks for the supportive words. Its an injury I am all too familiar with. This was just minor thank god. The last time I injured it, I should have gone in and had it repaired as the doctors suggested. Now it is very temperamental, and I have a rather noticeable deformity in my chest. 380 Close grip? Thats a pretty good press man. Congrats.
