I'm currently watching this video series on YouTube. I watched it when it first came out, but now that I have a better understanding of what's involved I'm getting more out of it. I'm starting part six right now. Definitely worth a look if you're serious about doing your own programming.
It's the distonic pressure. Doesn't matter where you push from. It's tge pressure you create in your body that creates tge problemNever had the issue myself but I had a friend start getting into lifting and stop shortly after BC of it. I told him don't push with ur asshole like ur trying to shit. It's like ur core, shit should be pulled in and tight while u lift haha
He's got great stuff man. He's actually offering his services and coaching/writing programs online. I looked into it but I ended up going with someone else because he wasn't ready to take me on when I needed him.
Yeah, I was thinking about hiring him last year for my meet, but the schedule didn't work. The way it seemed you had to start when everyone else did and that didn't work for me as I already had a meet lined up. I really liked the way he described his training plans, too.
I wanted to hire someone for getting ready for my meet in September, but I've got too much tied up in this cycle already. I'm going to spend the next couple weeks reading and watching as much as I can to put something together myself.
I've written a few programs for myself and I'm sure they were good but I'm always second guessing it. Then I would trash the program and write another one that I would just second guess. Totally worth it for me to have a coach.
I pay him $100 every 4 weeks, he writes my programs and I send him videos of my main lifts so he can critique them. At this point I pretty much have them down but in the beginning he took my deadlift from 555 to 600 in 12 weeks.
The strength was there, I was just lacking technique and confidence.
This may have been talked about already but where do u guys wear ur belts for each lift? I find myself keeping mine right under the bottom.of my rib cage for pulls, slightly lower for squats, and closer to the waist for bench, if I wear one at all.I just ordered a second belt to use for deadlifts only. I've never felt totally comfortable pulling in my 4" belt, so I picked up a 3" belt for deadlift and I'll use my other one for squats. I've been doing a lot of reading on it and it seems a more narrow belt is the way to go unless you're really tall.
Pretty good article on the subject by Mark Rippetoe.

Ive been thinking about it. I like my belt, but its hard for anything more than singles.I just ordered a second belt to use for deadlifts only. I'm 5-10 maybe a little closer to 5-11 as well but I think I have a slightly longer torso and limbs than others. The 4 inch has dug in on me with squats and left bruising but I've just learned to deal with it and it doesn't even phase me anymore. I'm really on the fence about belted bench as well.As far as I know it hasn't been, but it's a good topic to discuss for sure. I try to wear mine higher for pulls, my 4" belt still digs into my hips and I think it hurts my starting position. I'm only 5'10" though.
Squats I wear it around the waist, lower than deadlift.
Bench I don't wear one as it doesn't help me, if anything it hurts me. I've never tried anything other than my 4" though. A 2-2.5" bench belt might be different, but I don't know.
I've seen some people wear their belt backwards. Haven't tried that either.

Also I keep my belt higher

Yea I drag up my shins so close sometimes it usually pulls my thin shorts up so I could imagine getting hung on thick neoprene sleevesI saw some guys using knee sleeves on deadlift last time. That was a new one and I don't see how it could even help. Seems like it'd get in the way even.

works good for deads as it keeps the buckle and slack outta the way...I've seen some people wear their belt backwards. Haven't tried that either.
