Perrin Aybara's Journey to an Elite Powerlifting Total

How has your health been this time around? Still managing eat enough to stoke the fires?

I shoot for 5000 calories every day, but I'm missing a meal some days and only getting 4000, so my weight hasn't really been moving too much. Trying to get back on track, it's just hard without the routine of work or school. I'm doing better with it lately though. That meet got me motivated again.

@franchise24 how'd you do the face blur on YouTube? I looked it up and followed the directions for it and I'm not seeing the option for it. I guess what I'm asking is did you do it from your phone?
Just go to your videos and there is an edit function. Seems like they switch where they place it sometimes but it is usually on the top of the video when you go to edit it. You can manually do it or let it be done for for you.

Let me see if I can pm you an image of it.

So it's done after you upload? I know where the edit feature is, just don't have an option for that for some reason.

I just pm you with a screenshot of the area where the blur effects are. Most of the time the vids are set to private so you might have to switch it you public or publish I believe is the other option. So that it can be viewed if you post it on the forum. You then can switch it back to private after a few days. If want the vid to not play anymore.

How you feeling overall? Strength coming back to you?

I'm feeling better now that I'm back on a routine with goals. Diet is still kinda shitty, but I'm gaining weight and cutting the fat later is a breeze anyway.

Squat is going pretty well. Bench still feels weak. Trap bar deadlift is going well, but I won't know if it benefited my deadlift until after I switch back.

Like I was saying if this progression continues to play out as expected I'll be hitting doubles with around 450lbs on beltless high bar squats, 330ish on incline and 700ish on trap bar deadlift. That should have me around 500/365/725 for estimated 1RM on these lifts. Then I'll deload and go back to more traditional programming and see if I can't ride out some progress and surpass my 1RM on low bar squat with wraps, paused bench and sumo or conventional deadlift from earlier this year. 550/405/600 on those from this Spring.

Soon after switching back to comp lifts I'm gonna run test prop, NPP, var and drol for a short blast and aim for 600/425/650 by early next year. Either a mock meet or find a real meet. Preferably a real meet. I'm coming up with a timeline and that'll help with the gains to be working towards something.

Weight seems to be going up again. Not going to get too carried away until the blast and go for around 235lbs. Still gonna compete at 220lbs though.

Looks like you finally are getting out of that funk you been in lately. Bet you are real stoked now and keep the momentum!

Perrin how often do you deload?

Just depends on the situation. Right now I'm cruising and running a 10 week program I designed. I'll deload at the end before switching back to more traditional programming. During a cruise in the off season I'll do it like that. Between programs or training blocks. If I really feel like I need one I'll take one though.

If I'm doing an off season blast I won't plan for one and just take one as needed if I start seeing signs of needing one.

For a meet prep and blast I'll take a deload before starting the meet prep programming and cycle and ideally won't deload again until the week of the meet.

For the most part my deload will just look like the week before it except with less weight on the bar, say 70%. For a meet week deload I'll do 4x3 squat, bench and deadlift at like 50% just to keep the movement patterns fresh with some stretching and mobility.

Generally speaking I guess it ends up usually being every 8-12 weeks, when I feel I need it or in between training blocks or programs. It'll happen more often if I'm pushing the squat or deadlift especially hard.

224lbs

Trap bar deadlift (beltless) 605lbs for 3x8
Overhead press 175lbs for 4x6

Had to cut it short because I picked up a 12 hour shift hauling sand for cash tonight, tomorrow and Sunday and have to get ready food wise and hopefully take a nap for an hour before leaving.

The truck I was driving broke down a few hours in on Friday night. Slowed down to exactly 15mph and wouldn't go any faster. I pulled over and shut it off about fifteen minutes and it still wouldn't go over 15mph when I started it back up, so I very slowly drove it back where they park them and went home.

Started getting sick last week, too. Sore throat I had a couple months ago is back full on again. I'm thinking it's related to all four of my wisdom teeth being broken. All the symptoms match according to Google for infected teeth. Headache, fever, sore throat, swollen lymph nodes, sore jaw and constant fatigue. Been in bed pretty much all weekend except to eat and went to the gym today. Probably gonna try to see a doctor for more antibiotics this week because last time it lasted over a month until I finally went and got some.

221lbs (didn't eat much this weekend)

Beltless high bar squat 375x6, 380x6, 380x6, 380x6 (loaded the bar wrong on the first set)
Close grip bench 275x6, 275x6

Went home two sets into bench. Just felt like total death after the squats, but at least got in them in for today. Hopefully can get in for some antibiotics early this week. Seriously feel awful.

Don't fuck around man. Go see that Doctor. We have a brother on another forum who had what he thought was a simple infection. Turns out he has MRSA. be careful Perrin

How much did it cost? Google says $50-600 per tooth.

I know. It's something I've been worried about for years because of complications that can arise due to it. This year has been the worst for me. My medical insurance is pretty good and I've kept it up even though I haven't been working. No dental insurance at all though, so I'm hoping getting them pulled isn't too expensive and they have some kind of payment plans.

The weird thing is the sore throat isn't even that bad. Mostly just an annoyance. I can still eat as much as normal if I try even though my appetite is almost nothing. The fatigue and overall just feeling like shit is the worst. Been reading about infection and looks like that's common if you're body is using all its energy trying to fight it off.

I'll definitely update on what's going on when I find out for sure.
