Perrin Aybara's Journey to an Elite Powerlifting Total

Speed bench 185lbs plus purple bands for 12x3

Close grip bench 225lbs for 3x15

Squat with weight releasers 320+120x1, 370+120x1, 390+120x1, 410+140x1

Chin ups 3x13

Adductors and abductors with bands 3x20

Dumbbell glute bridges 150lbs plus two green bands for 3x30

Still no pain from bench, so hopeful it's gotten better. Gonna keep going light for awhile still.

Comp deadlift 525x3, 525x3, 525x3, 525x12

Slingshot bench 275x3, 315x3

Belt squats 3x15

On the last set of deadlift the plates on one slid several inches and it was way out of balance. Probably would've gotten 15 if not for that. Also tweaked my back a little because of it. Still no pain on bench. Skipped accessories because I was feeling the hamstring curls pretty hard in my lower back.

Back in brother. I'm glad the party here is still going strong.

Welcome back.

Sitting today out. Lower back still feels a little sore in a bad way. Better than yesterday, so hopefully can lift normally Tuesday or maybe just skip block pulls.

Speed squats 300lbs + green bands for 10x2

Sumo block pull 495x3, 585x3

Zercher squats 225x8, 250x8, 275x8

Pretty much took it easy today after tweaking my lower back on Saturday. Did use heavier bands on speed squats for the first time. Block pulls just went really light and had no pain, so will most likely deadlift normally this weekend. Did zercher squats with the front squat harness for the first time and really liked them a lot. Tried them once or twice just regular in the past and it was almost unbearable. With the harness they feel great and really seem to hit my quads hard. Will definitely be keeping them in the rotation awhile.

Also, was online to order some bloodwork and apparently the local place closed recently. The next nearest one isn't too far, but it's inconvenient now. I should have some time off work this week to get over there. Doing it before work at this other location would be hard to pull off.

I have clips similar to those that I got from Amazon and they do hold plates on solidly. They are also easy to release to take off and that is a big plus for my arthritic fingers. Well worth having!

Like the black but mine are blue.

I got these from Rogue Fitness. $40 for the pair, but someone I trust recommended them. I don't want a repeat of Saturday and plates sliding several inches during a set of deadlift.

Ouch that sucks and I hate that when it happened to me when using those spring clips most gyms have. They tend to get worn and loose, but the collars I have work really well.

Mine went for $17 for the pair and had them for 2 years already. No problems with them so far.

Comp squat 390x3, 390x3, 390x3, 390x7

Sumo block pull 585x2, 655x2

Got a few reps in on Bulgarian split squats and called it a day. Adductors are really tight and hurting like I've been hitting them too hard. Which is possible, been doing some different movements lately and also hitting lower body pretty hard and only running 150mg a week of test right now. I did some light stretching before leaving.

Comp deadlift 565lbs for 5x5

Slingshot bench 275x5, 300x5, 300x5, 300x10

Belt squats 3x15

Chest supported row 3x20

Hamstring curls 2x20

5x5 PR, best that weight has ever moved. Still no pain on bench either. Also, Rogue collars work awesome.
Great that you like the collars as they keep the plates on securely. Bet you can now move the weight without worrying the plates will slide off.

Bloodwork from Monday. Been on 150mg/week of test cyp since October with no AI. I figured the RBC would be high, my eight week blood drain a couple weeks ago was a fail. Only got about 1/8 pint and needle clogged and didn't want to keep sticking myself. That's an easy fix. The high glucose is new though and odd because I avoid sugar except for fruit.

I guess I'll retest in like a month. My girlfriend is starting a low carb thing this week and I'll just hop on with that except around training.

Comp bench 225x5, 255x5, 255x5, 255x5, 255x5, 255x5

Close grip bench 205x15, 205x15, 205x20

Zercher squats 275x6, 300x6, 315x4

On the fourth rep with 315lbs on zercher squats I felt a pop in my hamstring near my knee. It still hurts now, but there's nothing visibly apparent. With that and how lower body stuff felt Tuesday I'm gonna take that as a sign to deload till next Saturday. I guess going hard on these AMRAPs and new movements on a cruise dose is adding up. On the bright side bench feels good and still no pain.

Better get that hamstring checked as any popping does not sound good.

Been reading more on the glucose and I think I'm seeing why it may be high. In the past before they closed the Quest Diagnostics near me I always went before work. Fasted if doing cholesterol or about an hour after breakfast. Monday I had breakfast, lunch, and two shakes in me, one shake on the way there after work and it had a banana in it. So possibly just higher from having been eating all day and immediately before the blood was drawn. Still gonna follow up, but less worried now.
