Perrin Aybara's Journey to an Elite Powerlifting Total

The meet I was looking at doing would be March 2020 to qualify for 2020 nationals in either July or October depending on location. I’d have to get a new singlet since I got patches sewn on mine.

I'm kinda itching to do another, maybe cut to 198lbs and go after elite at that weight. I don't think I'd really even need to run a blast for it

I get a new singlet about every other meet. If you wanna save a few bucks I don't care to send you one that I'm not using anymore. Basically new. If I can remember where they are anyway lol.

Shit were probably the same size. No funky colors!

I have two black Adidas ones. One XL and one L. Just solid black with the white stripes on the side. The one I just bought recently is a Titan brand. But yeah, if you want one of the Adidas ones I'll try to dig them up. Pretty sure I packed them in my mom's attic after my last breakup.

No pain with bench still? Whatever you did to alleviate the pain looks like it's working. Plan to try to up the weight and test a new max down the road for bench?

No pain. It'll probably be at least six months before I'm in a position to attempt a bench max again. Since I barely missed 429lbs I'd like to get after 440-455lbs next year. I might push my bodyweight to maybe 225lbs temporarily for it. I just don't have the appetite to maintain my weight that high for long.

Those FS looked smooth AF dude.

Yeah, I was surprised. I think I could probably hit over 405lbs right now for a single. Maybe 415-425x1.

Thanks. Wanted 10, but couldn't lock the 10th rep out with 315lbs

Vacation workout

Bench 315x5, 315x5, 225x20

Deadlift 495x3, 545x3, 565x10 I think a rep PR
All they had were bumper plates on the deadlift platform and 565lbs was all of them.

Neutral grip pull ups 2x10

Just wanted to hit a few things and get out since we're on vacation. They actually had a Texas Deadlift bar at this gym we went to, so that was cool. There was a big leader board of the big three up and the top deadlift at this gym was 545lbs. I asked a staff member if I could get my 565x10 up there lol. It's funny going to gyms where people aren't used to seeing heavy weight thrown around.

Nice workout even on a vacation and would be cool if you got your lift up there on their leaderboard to make yourself known there!

Maybe next time you are in that area you'd go there again and be welcomed :)

I've done something to my lower back. I don't think it's bad because it hasn't really affected my lifting, I've just been noticing it the last couple weeks and it's not going away. Like after I do a set of front squat or deadlift the first few steps I take after I'll feel a sharp shock of pain like right in my spine and then it fades. Been feeling it at work, too. So the next week or two I'm gonna do stuff that doesn't load the spine.

Belt squats 5x10 with six 35's

Back extensions 3x15

Leg press 3x20

Did one giant set of chest supported row, hamstring curls, and ab wheel. Then got demotivated and just hopped on the treadmill.

Sometimes the best we can do is just take some time off from certain lifts—that’s why I switched to FS for a while. Hope it heals soon bro

I get a similar shock in my left trap off and on too, not sure what it is though

I don't want to chance making it worse and end up with months off, so maybe one or two weeks of belt squats and back extensions will fix it.

Sucks to get those kind of tweaks and hope you heal up fast. That shock feeling in the back does sound unsettling though. Maybe an irritation of a nerve?
