Perrin Aybara's Journey to an Elite Powerlifting Total

Some, but I'm not great with leg drive.

I want to and my training partner says bulk. I don't know, I don't feel great at this weight. Might not be so much the weight, but the kinds of food I'm having to eat to keep this weight on. I wasn't thinking about cutting to sub 200lbs. I weighed 231lbs just now and was just looking to go down to 215lbs-220lbs.

Mostly just worried about the health aspect of being heavier. My resting heart rate has went from low to mid 60's to around 70 since putting on the extra weight. Maybe if I could actually get motivated to do some cardio I might feel better at the heavier weight. Could be partially the lack of sleep too. I've only been averaging 6 hours lately rather than the 7-8 I'm used to.
You mentioned worried about health aspects, then I wouldn’t do it. Just drop to 220 and hit that 500 bench!!

I think I've pretty well decided I'm going to cut some weight since I'm injured anyway. Going by how it feels now and how it felt the last couple times I hurt my hip I'll be off sumo deadlift for a couple months minimum and back squat for a few weeks to a month. Part of me wants to keep permabulking for bench, but I'm the highest bodyfat I've been since my first cycle and can't really justify it.

Got three kits of Mauve Tops I've had lying around I'll throw in at 2iu a day. Just stay with the 150mg of test cruise and maybe throw in low dose var here and there throughout to minimize strength loss during the cut.

Typical mostly clean diet. 12 hour eating window to start out with to be somewhat fasted for before bed HGH dosing. If I can find a cheap piece of used cardio equipment soon I'll add some fasted cardio in with an extra 2iu of HGH on those days.

Definitely need to get more sleep. With the extra hours at work and having to get up by 3pm on gym days it's made it hard to sleep past 3pm on off days and I've been ending up only getting around 6 hours of sleep lately.

Training wise I'll try front squatting first and either belt squat for deadlift or maybe trap bar or conventional depending on how my hip feels. More cardio for sure and maybe yoke carries and farmers carries.

Thoughts? Or should I continue bulking to the moon and try to bench 500lbs?

Once I get up to a good 18% and my body feels beat up, it is kind of nice to do a 6-8 week cut to get back down to at least 12%. Everything just seems to feel a lot better. The big key is trying to maintain as much strength as possible while letting the injuries recover. I think if you're meticulous enough with your training/nutrition you can go from 18-12% in 6-8 weeks without losing hardly any strength. Obviously if you can't do anything related to deadlift, all you can do is just keep working the muscles involved the best you can without compromising recovery. Your strength will dip, but since it's more just your level of skill at that particular lift it will come back fast as soon as you can actually start training deadlift again and putting on weight.

So I.M.O. it comes down to how soon you think you'll be able to hit 500? Are you only a few months of bulking away? Then maybe say fuck it. Suffer a bit longer, hit your goal, then cut. If you're more than three months away, then a quick cut doesn't seem like much but a little speed bump in the road. At least you'll feel better heading into your next bulk and be looking forward to making gains. Just my unnecessarily long and slightly incoherent 2¢.

How’s your bp?

One of my jerkface cats pulled my BP cuff out of my drawer and chewed up the hose a few months ago. With the move and work hadn't gotten around to getting another one yet.

That's the dream.

Realistically I'd say a year or two. It took three years from 405lbs to 440lbs staying around the same weight. With the increased weight it's hard to say. Bodyweight and calories play a huge part in bench, but also every pound at 405+ is a struggle.

Interesting
I find the exact opposite
I like to sit at 18%
Anytime I drop lower, I immediatly bulk up again lol.
Seems to be my sweet spot, but then again, I havnt been sub 18% in Powerlifting.
Only back in the day during show prep, getting into the low BF%, might try it after my best blast... which will include Deca, so cutting is out of the question for that run lol

It's all personal preference. Some people hate trying to maintain a physique while powerlifting. In my honest opinion, I don't get any additional performance boost past roughly 18%. So as a competitive lifter I plan little mini-cuts around the time i know my body will want a break anyways.

The hell is this? You turn into a box gym bro on us? Lol

Those were almost my thoughts if it wasn't for the weight on bench. No little planet fitness boy is repping 3 plates for a light day. Lol.

Also, planet fitness dudes shave their armpits and chest. I never got that impression from @Perrin Aybara. I mean, I'm not trying to jump to conclusions. Just didn't think that was your thing.

Nah, full hairy beast mode. Without being able to squat or deadlift casually repping 315lbs is about the only enjoyment I can get in the gym right now.

I feel that man. Powerlifting almost becomes a big chunk of who you are. Without being able to chase PRs, it just feels weird. Lol. Last year when I couldn't SBD, the only thing that kept me going to the gym regularly was trying to get as unnaturally vascular as I could for no logical reason other than it was something new to walk around with dick skin on my arms. Kept things interesting until I felt good to lift heavy again.

That's kind of what I did last year when I first got hurt. I was still able to bench, but was able to let it go down. After the mayor bench gains this year I'm having a harder time letting it go to cut. I'm down from 237lbs to 227lbs already just since the meet.

Yeah. You'll be back soon. Just have to let the body recover a bit and loosen up any tight muscles. Before you know it, you'll be back to almost 10%bf and be ready for a big bulk cycle.
