Rodgerthat trying to pick heavy things up.

I would definitely like to see a review on that man. I got a filling in one of my molars a few months ago. I have a habit of really biting down when squeezing those last few reps out and I've heard the filling make a cracking noise but I haven't noticed any real issues from it. Not a pleasant feeling or sound though.

Happy New Year's from the US! I never thought about a mouthpiece, but I have done some teeth grinding on heavy sets before. May look into that.
I had a jiu jitsu teacher(competitive at the top levels) and he talked about the mouth piece actually helping performance. Never quite understood the concept but many guys I've seen had custom made pieces and swore by them

I could see where it might help some. I'm still justifying the price of the knee sleeves though and the mouthpiece RT mentioned is almost the same price. Cheaper ones might be an option though. I think I saw some guys at my last meet wearing them.

@RodgerThat do you where your knee sleeves when deadlifting?

So yes the mouthpiece is expensive but my buddy did get one and made a 15pound PR on deadlifts the first day, coincidence, maybe I don't know. I did get a discount on it by using Brian shaws code shaw15, gives 15% off plus I bought the military camp which was already 30% off if purchased with a shaker cup so all in I payed 63 for the mouthpiece shaker and shipping. For all the gear I have and the way I allocate my money this is reasonable for my budget.

I do not wear my knee sleeves during deadlifts as the bar catches them on the way up, no real need for deads as the knees ROM isn't really that large either. That being said I'm going to try it with my 2 sizes too small knee sleeves to see if I can get any additional pop in the knees for my meet and it hides and slight flexion in the knee from the judges eye so I wouldn't get red lighted for some stupid 5% flexion (happened to my friend and he ended up having a passionate discussion with the director because of it)

Knee sleeves are a purchase I've made 4x now @Perrin Aybara , 1 rehband pair and 3x SBD sleeves (because I grew and couldn't get my leg in without a 20 minute struggle) so I would say besides my romelaos 2 and my inzer belt they are the best purchase that can be made for the sport. My .02 cents there though some may disagree

I don't doubt you at all, I just can't squeeze much more out of my budget at the moment.

I get that man it all comes slowly to get it but defiantly would make sleeves your next purchase I think a mouthpiece is for guys like myself that have already been collecting gear for a few years and there's not much left to get so I try anything to get another 5 pounds lol

I'm still ordering the sleeves, I just haven't decided if I should wait two weeks on the Strong series to come back in stock or just get the regular ones.

I've got that work I'm doing on my property in the spring I was telling you about to think about, so I can't get too crazy on the spending. This sport can get pretty expensive fast.

I just got some Romaleos and man are they worth it. I've always loved to squat, even if it was lighter weights and higher reps and they just make squatting better. But @Perrin Aybara, take your time and get the stuff as you can. This is a hobby and life comes first

For sure, turcao. I'm getting a deadlift bar before long and that'll use up my powerlifting gear budget for awhile. The struggle is real when there isn't room for clips with the plates and then the plates slide off because the bar is bending.

@RodgerThat do you use lifting shoes? If so, what do you think?

Oh boy oh boy do I ever use lifting shoes lol. I have gone through about 8 pairs of different shoes to date, I'll try and name them all but probably will forget some.
Adidas do-wins (they were alright but got second hand)
Deadlift slippers (also alright but not my prime choice)
High top chuck Taylor's (good if you want just one shoe)
Addi powers (too narrow in the foot box for me)
Nike 5.0 free run (my cardio shoe)
Rebook nano 4.0 (what use to be my do everything shoe until I got into powerlifting 2 years ago)

The shoes I currently use:
Nike Romaleos 2 best purchase I've made for lifting hands down no question.
I squat and bench and OHP in them they are very stable.
Sabo deadlift shoe, these things are sweet for deadlifts, they are the same thickness as a deadlift slipper but have all the support of a squat shoe
Nike 5.0 free runs for my cardio and to drive to and from the gym

I'm so close to that struggle I can't wait! Only 8 more deadlift days then I should have 5 plates plus 3-4 little plates on it and I'm hoping they slide just cause if the bar ain't bending your just pretending ;):p:D

I see that @Skull's emoji style is rubbing off on you haha.

Happy new year and here's to you winning a meet this year!

I've been trying to be conservative with my emojis too! Don't want to step on @Skull toes as I know he's meso number 1 user of the emojis :p

Unless two guys don't show then I won't be able to win I'm actually going into the open div so I could be facing any number of big names and my lifts don't compare to theirs... Yet :D but ya there might be a couple guys with 1600+ totals in my class and I'm going to be extremely happy to have a 1250-1350 total. I've been debating actually starting my cycle early for this reason as if I can't place I won't get tested other then the random tests and you can refuse those and the only consequence is that your numbers don't get recorded into the fed as completed lifts. It's something I'm toying with but also don't want to cut my time off cycle too short as to screw up my recovery completely. Only bloods will tell though.

You'll do fine and having a blast at least...keep training hard and keep the competition guessing ;)

This is your first meet right? I thought one cool thing about this log is that your off cycle and on PCT right now. It's cool seeing your natural progress now and I'm kinda hoping this leads into an untested meet next in a few months when you hop back on with a nice classic PL cycle. If you end up hopping back on early for this one though I'll still be following!
