You think that the US has so much crime and repeat offenders because prison is a luxury?

The US has no focus on criminal reform... They just have a mentality like you do, make it hell inside so they hate it. Probably why the US prison system is an unmitigated disaster and other developed countries prevent repeat offenders and turn convicts into productive members of society when they get out. Probably won't happen here because the for profit prisons prefer to, you know, make a profit.
This is spot on. Excellent post.

U.S has no process for reform, probably won’t for a few decades. what prison wardens and state governors see is that prisoners are dollar signs... But yes prisoners should be able to lift weights as a privilege. this can help prisoners keep a sense of mind so when they get out, they are familiar with something and they don’t off the walls.

Good comment.. I forgot that almost all county jails and state jails are privately/commercially owned.. which means for profit..I don't believe it's always been this way. I think this has been kinda more recently happening.. maybe past 15 yes or so

This used to be a thing until inmates would take the weights and bash peoples heads in with them. They then started welding the plates onto the bars but it made no difference.

It’s strange how incarceration rates in the US skyrocketed after prisons started to become privatized. It just so happens that harsher sentencing laws were passed around that same time.

Pure coincidence, I’m sure.

They shouldn’t get shit at all but 3 terrible meals and a cot. That’s it, that’s why you have repeat offenders and so much crime because most of them have it better inside and don’t mind going back. This world never ceases to amaze me.
Interesting you would post this when so many forum members here have been in prison.

So do you use steroids? Are you immune from going to prison for steroids?

Prisons still have weight rooms, it differed between states. In federal prison it differed between custody level. Where I was at if you got a major infraction for any type of violence or fighting your weight room card would be pulled for 2 years. So it actually kept those guys from fighting.

This dudes and idiot clearly and the true of dude who gets cracked for buying steroids and shipping through postal service then get to the joint and it the cops best friend and helper.

I had a feeling all you fucking past inmates and addicts would come in here boooo hooooing , they are humans too this and that lol no, they are fucking animals is what they are. Make excuses all you want. Plain and fucking simple follow the rules you won’t go to jail and or prison ....which ya gtta fuck up multiple times or commit a heavy crime. Same goes for ohhh stop shooting blanks - well stop trying to stab two other girls and maybe you won’t get shot. Don’t run back to your car to try and grab something when a cop says stay here. Act like an animal get locked up and shot like an animal period.

FOLLOW THE FUCKING RULES OF SOCIETY - ITS NOT TOO HARD TO BE A GOOD PERSON
Are you using anything more than doctor prescribed hrt meds or do you use underground gear and blast cycles?

If the answer is the latter, you should probably shut the fuck up.

I bet ya if they did something to your family, friends, loved ones you’d change your tune awfully quickly.

...what of that non violent offenders sold your niece drugs that ended up killing her would you be all about reform for that piece of shit ?!
ahh, so a drug dealer hurt you, knew it had to be something.

How hypocritical that convicts need to take accountability for their actions but are also still scum, but you're niece somehow isn't in that same group?
maybe she shouldn't have been taking drugs??

He's in the same group as his niece...taking illegal drugs and then having the audacity to talk about convicts taking accountability and following laws. This guy is a fucking clown and it would be some ironic justice if his holier than thou ass got busted and had to pay the price for his crimes against humanity.

Read through his post history. He has a pretty extensive record of saying stupid shit.

For some people, there is a moral panic over prisoners who still have the freedom to work out and lift weights while incarcerated. They feel weightlifting convicts are a threat to society. John Hoberman discusses this in his article:

What are your thoughts?
If it cost me half a cent over my entire lifespan, then no. I have no desire to, literally, pay for somebody else's crime/punishment. We have too many social programs and gifts, as it is.

If you aren't going to pay for someone else's crime/punishment then who is.

Given that the vast majority of prison inmates are non-violent offenders in jail for something that is crime only because some law says it is a crime, I don't have a problem with weights being provided.

I would feel differently if prisons really were just places for murderers and rapists and robbers, but that is so far from reality as to be laughable.

I have no problems with Martha Stewart having done some weight training when she was in the joint.

I don't know, i dont care....hell let the govt create 'loans for prisoners' and dock their pay when released. Not my job to pay for anybody else's shit....other than myself and my family. Especially in this climate with a good guy liberal in the white house. Let the Biden's pay for it. Put a prisoner's tax on politician's salaries...see how long that shit lasts.

Same goes for me...or anybody. If i fuck up, that's on me. I have no expectation for you, or anybody else, to pay for my prison time.

Hell deport 'em, if it's cheaper. I do not care. The money i earn should go in my wallet
