Telmisartan

Imagine
Any difference in using berberine instead of metformin?
they act on different pathways, and met had shown benefits not related to insulin sensitivity as well. They are not equal, but berberine, so long as you get a bioavailable version (it’s like single % availability on just raw berberine) is always a good addition.

I’ve been on 20mg ed, it usually keeps me in the 130s along with 10mg cialis ed that was while on 75mg Anadrol too. Maybe 40mg would be better? I got this from expresspct but I wonder what they would actually test at..

Some studies show decrease in HCT and others show no difference
It's one reason everyone should closely monitor their bloodwork when experimenting / self-medicating. Most people don't experience these type of side effects. An important rule in anabolic pharmacology is to never assume you are like most people.

Speaking of hematocrit for example, metformin is considered one of the safest drugs used in the bodybuilding milieu. Yet I learned that for me personally, it dramatically lowers my hematocrit, like from 48-52 to the low 40s.

Be careful.

Well said.

Different note, I would love a med that lowers my HCT as I hate getting phlebotomy, I’ll have to try metformin…

Regarding only HCT, I take both telmisartan and metformin. Zero affect on HCT. Telmisartan has little to no affect on my BP, either, so, take that as you will. Up to 80mg/day telmisartan and up to 2000mg/day metformin. Just donated on Friday, HGB was 16.4, using the 3xHGB=HCT formula, puts my HCT at 49. That’s also supplementing with grapefruit seed extract, IP6, green tea, turmeric/curcumin and baby aspirin. Also, 5mg/day cialis.

I don't think this is a desirable way to lower hematocrit as you can probably imagine. The resulting vitamin b12 deficiency can result in lowered hematocrit (anemia) but also have other b12 malabsorption side effects like neurological symptoms, etc..

Good to know, didn’t know metformin caused a B12 deficiency

I'm currently on 10mg Amlodipine besalyte and 4mg Candesartan daily. Looks like I might have to ask my doc to change my script to Telmisartan instead. I will look more into the cardiac remodelling prevention benefits that Telmisartan provides.

@Mac11wildcat @Palifter & @Millard What are your thoughts on Telmisartan and Nebivalol synergy? (This is what I am about to start) Would love your input
For athletes, I would avoid beta blockers due to potential effects on performance. If you need something more than telmisartan, I'd ask about an ARB/ACE combination first. Finding the right blood pressure meds combination is one thing most doctors are good at helping you with

Amlodipin is a lot stronger for bp reduction than Telmisartan so I dont think he will switch you from Amlodipin to Telmisartan if you really need 10mg daily to control it, but you could still add 20mg of telmi to your daily regiment.
