No I am a surgical tech student and anatomy is one of the prerequisites to the program.

Haha well I am definitely not a grammar nazi or anything, but I do proofread my posts a few times. And I have to make a lot of grammatical fixes due to these fuckin “smart” phones haha.

I was a surg tech for 5 years. It’s good money. Especially if you don’t mind a little over time...

Thanks man! I studied my ass off for it. Like 5-6 hours a day last Thursday through Sunday. The test we have this Monday is gonna be even more challenging I think, so I’ve been getting up at 5am every day this week for extra study time. Madness I tell ya!

When I went to college back in the late 90s, I didn’t do anything except get shitfaced every night. Now that I have a new career I’m chasing at age 41, it’s easier to stay focused and study. And there’s the whole sobriety thing which helps a lot.

Makes me wonder how things would’ve been different had I not have wasted so many years. But I suppose that’s a pointless thought that does no good whatsoever.

“Don’t look back. You’re not going that way.”
Ha, 5 am that’s what time I go to bed.
Seriously though I gotta give it to you man!
That’s a lot of life to juggle and you seem to be finding the right amount of balance.

Shitfaced what’s that? :p Lol the story of my life up until I woke up and changed my ways. Which ironically happen to happen the same time I started AAS, about 6-7 years ago.
Same my whole life changed! I am lucky too be able to say I have LIVED! I am able to accept the good along with the bad now and it is is liberating. No time to dwell on things we can’t change.

Well said my brother. We definitely have similar stories, especially coming from service industry. I hated the late shifts after I sobered up. The $$ of course is nice when you work until close, but I got burned out after 16 years of it. Hopefully you won’t burn out! The $$ will always be great and if you can do it sober, more power to you!

Front squats! If I could just keep the fucking bar on my shoulders, I could push the weight! I love these, seemingly easier on my ailing hip flexors and can get balls deep on these, like ass almost touching the floor. How are they easier on hip flexors? Or perhaps they are almost fully recovered.

Strong day, I’m thinking my hamstrings have put on a bit of size. They pump better and I’m way stronger with a bigger range of motion on SLDLs than when I started Carnage.

Front squats are tricky for me too man. I’ve been using a smith machine when they pop up til I can get more comfortable with them. Last thing I wanna do is drop the bar haha. Damn good workout tho. Numbers are going up!

There was a guy in the power rack next to me doing front squats and we talked a bit in between sets about how nobody does em. He was a noob to them too just like me so he didn’t have any tips when I asked ha.

I’m able to battle through the drop set of death pretty well now. I’m not saying it’s easier by any means, but you know how mental it is... once the mind is conditioned to a certain type of pain, it’s easier to embrace it.

Absolutely. Your killing it !

Yeah front squats are weird. I experimented just yesterday with double kettle front squats and there were less awkward then using a barbell. Lol, I’m still not trying to get in to cross fit.o_O

I’ve tried cross fit on a few different occasions. It has its place for certain people. Not for me though haha. It literally beat the shit outta me. Not even gonna lie. This was also about 6-7 years ago and I wasn’t in nearly the shape I am now but even so. I was sore for DAYS. Legs especially from what I remember all those f****n squats and power cleans and overhead Barbell squats and shit.

My joints cringe when I see people doing power cleans and snatches. I don’t get it?
Seems like so much stress on your wrists and elbows, oh and locking out the knees.

Chest day off

Chest days - due to my pec tear, they are my least favorite days while everyone else considers Monday “International Chest Day”. Where they get in line for a bench and everyone has a great time and crushes bench and brags about their numbers and it almost turns into a bench press circle jerk. Fuck that shit. I do legs on Monday. Power racks are wide open.

But today is Friday, the 2nd weekly chest day in Carnage, and I’m taking it off. My left anterior deltoid is overworked due to carrying the load of a couple heavy barbell bench weeks. DBs are better for my situation so I don’t become too unbalanced, but that will always be an issue with my chest unfortunately. But no excuses. I may never have a great chest, but it will be the best that I can possibly develop it. And the best way for me to do that today is give my left shoulder a breather.

If the dumbbells work better and take some stress off of your shoulder/Pec I would honestly just sub them in for Barbell work man indefinitely. Why risk injury ya know. Your still gonna get the same results if not better with dumbbells and using more muscle recruitment anyways for that movement vs Barbell.

That’s a great idea and I agree, if it’s the best thing for my situation, why not replace barbell presses with DBs at all times. My right pec is nowhere near my left in strength and size/proportion, why keep the imbalance by pressing with a barbell? Makes a lot of sense my man, thanks for the advice. I will take you up on that.

Sorry to hear that your pec/Shoulder is giving you a hard time. Heavy barbell work will definitely reak havoc on your rotator cuff and shoulders. The phat program I’m running has ZERO barbell chest or shoulder press exercises. I think it’s for good reason and I don’t think it’s a coincidence that I’ve had zero issues. I still throw incline barbell chest presses in every other week or so. Just take it slow man.

Thanks man. Yeah all the rotator cuff and anterior delt warm ups aren’t going to save my left shoulder from trying to pick up the slack from my torn right pec. I’m totally with you guys, no more barbell pressing for me.
