Hair Loss

Jung JY, Yeon JH, Choi JW, et al. Effect of dutasteride 0.5 mg/d in men with androgenetic alopecia recalcitrant to finasteride. Int J Dermatol. http://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/ijd.12060/abstract

BACKGROUND: Finasteride at a dose of 1 mg/d has been reported to show no significant improvement in 30-50% of patients with androgenetic alopecia (AGA). Dutasteride, a dual inhibitor of both type I and type II 5 alpha-reductase, inhibits the conversion of testosterone to dihydrotestosterone, which is the key contributor of AGA.

MATERIALS AND METHODS: Our aim is to evaluate clinical efficacy and tolerability of dutasteride in men with AGA who do not show clinical improvement to the conventional finasteride treatment. A total of 35 Korean men with AGA who had not shown significant clinical improvement when treated with finasteride 1 mg/d for at least six months received dutasteride at a dose of 0.5 mg/d for six months. Efficacy was evaluated by global photograph assessment and phototrichogram. Safety assessment was performed through physical examination and adverse event report.

RESULTS: Of the 31 patients who completed the treatment, 24 patients (77.4%) were improved by the global photography (17 were slightly, six moderately, and one markedly improved) compared with the post-finasteride treatment. There was no significant change in seven patients (22.6%), and aggravation was not reported. Hair density and thickness significantly increased by 10.3% (87 +/- 12-96 +/- 12/cm2 ) and 18.9% (0.053 +/- 0.012-0.063 +/- 0.011 mm), respectively, in phototrichogram assessment. Side effects included transient sexual dysfunction in six patients (17.1%).

CONCLUSIONS: Dutasteride is suggestive to be an alternative treatment option to patients with AGA who do not clinically respond to finasteride in six months.

Been on fina for a little bit now. No sides besides watery semen and I see less hair come out when I shower. I'm only taking 0.5mg EOD since it has a long half life. That and rogaine. I have high hopes.

I'm just thining a little btw. I'm catching it before it gets bad

I'd try the Avodart because some guys have sexual problems after taking fina for a while and then stopping. You don't get that with Avodart and you also get the benefit of shrunken prostate which can flare up on a cycle. Avodart helps me pee freely!

I'm young (18) and have baldness in my family on both sides.

I currently have a thick head of hair, what can I do as very early precautions?

Make sure that you have all the vitamins and nutrition for healthy skin and hair.
Use the shampoo that I suggested...it really works after 6 months and don't ever stop using it.
Avodart (try iron-dragon.com) its cheap and will last you a while.

Do this and you will be like me, full head of hair at 38

I was reading the ingredients change and now the shampoo is shit . Have you heard of that?
It looks a bit different since Mitchell sold Nioxin out, but it guarantees the same effects. The after shampoo & conditioner medicated spray both opens the pores and gives the hair a slight hold w/o being hard.

What vitamins do you recommend?

I use a keto shampoo, and I'm afraid to use a DHT "blocker" as I'm 18 and believe I'm still in "puberty" as I lack a proper beard. Brother's beard came in at 21~

im wondering is it possible that gear contaminated with norethisterone could cause me to lose hair at a faster pace? reason im asking is i have never had any hair loss from aas before, and did not have any hair loss on cycle, but i ran test prop from MFL alongside test E for about 13 weeks and it is suspected to be contaminated, i am starting my 3rd week of my pct, and my hair has been falling out since i started PCT. it did not fall out at all on cycle, but a few days after pct it started falling out like crazy. i am stressing because the amount that my hair has thinned is rediculous, it is coming out in patches. wondering if anyone could chime in on this?

Beibs, I read about that MFL shit, completely fucked up. From what i read, taking female contraceptive hormones, can lead to a general de-masculinization in males (gyno, less facial hair, muscle shrinkage) Women on these hormones can experience hair loss, if sensitive to the hormonal change. Not enough reasearch done on men. (I wonder why? What guy wants to be a part of that fucking study?) I could venture a guess that your body could be pissed off at you, going from doses of female hormone to trying to reboot test production. You know one extreme to the other.

If that's what it's from biebs I'd think it would come back..

bro I'm on propecia at 19 I was on it at 18 . My facial hair doubled in 6 month . Some peoples beards don't come in till 30

I agree JB, its a short period of time, not sure it's enough to harm the hair folicule. Then you could use some outside stimulation, like rogaine, pro, pecia, etc. Never had issues with my hair, i'm 35, until i took winny over the winter. I started propecia and rogaine and now i'm pretty much back to normal. Oh yeah, i stay away from the DHT derived aas's. So if anyone sells me winny as var, i will know. I won't need mass spec or labmax, i will know, and i will find you.

In Hairless Man, Arthritis Drug Spurs Hair Growth — Lots Of It!!!

Craiglow BG, King BA, Killing Two Birds with One Stone: Oral Tofacitinib Reverses Alopecia Universalis in a Patient with Plaque Psoriasis, Journal of Investigative Dermatology. http://www.nature.com/jid/journal/vaop/naam/pdf/jid2014260a.pdf

A man with almost no hair on his body has grown a full head of it after a novel treatment. The patient had previously been diagnosed with both alopecia universalis, a disease that results in loss of all body hair, and plaque psoriasis, a condition characterized by scaly red areas of skin.

The only hair on his body was within the psoriasis plaques on his head. The patient has also grown eyebrows and eyelashes, as well as facial, armpit, and other hair, which he lacked at the time he sought help.

Clinicians believed it might be possible to address both diseases simultaneously using an existing FDA-approved drug for rheumatoid arthritis called tofacitinib citrate. The drug had been used successfully for treating psoriasis in humans. It had also reversed alopecia areata, a less extreme form of alopecia, in mice.

After three more months of therapy, the patient had completely regrown scalp hair and also had clearly visible eyebrows, eyelashes, and facial hair, as well as armpit and other hair. y eight months there was full regrowth of hair.

These panels show the patient's head
a) before treatmen with tofacitinib,
b) two months into treatment,
c) five months into treatment, and
d) eight months into treatment.
