Last night's workout was a nightmare. Did 3sets of good mornings and on the 3rd set my back just couldn't take it anymore. Gave up on them and did the 5sets of pull-ups I needed to. Went to do Pendlay rows and once again back wasn't having it. Finished with lat pulldowns. Was not able to do 3 of the lifts I needed to.
Sorry to hear about that man. Hopefully you can get it worked out an fixed bro:(

Seeing the doctor July 31. Hopefully I get a referral to a sports specialist and also take care of my sleep issues which I think is sleep apnea.

Edit* thanks for the wishes!

I was diagnosed with severe sleep apnea a few years ago and went through all the steps. Unfortunately both the cpap and bipap didn't help (according to the tests). One huge factor is weight. Once I leaned out and it got a lot better, but still there.

Since you aren't sure and it will be a few days before a sleep study, one thing i did was record myself when I slept. If you have it you will know.. Really scary realization listening to how much stress my body was going through just trying to fucking breathe at night.

That date can't come soon enough.

Just a suggestion but maybe you shouldn't do anything thats going to further exacerbate the issue. I believe the more the surrounding tissue is inflamed or swollen, the more difficult it is for imaging devices to get clear pictures of the area, and therefore clearly identify the problem.

I might try the video taping thing. I'm not that big but I have gained weight in the last 2yrs or so and that's when the problems began getting worse. I'm 5'10" and between 205-210 so it's not like I'm Cutler's size or anything lol.

Yea I'm going to take it easy with anything related to that area. No deads, maybe just light good mornings, and squats will be touch and go although they don't seem to aggravate it from what I've noticed.

Saturday

Detour wave, week 3, day 3:

Squats: 6x3 @ 335lbs easy with great bar speed but back was cracking/popping
Deficit deadlifts: 3x5 @ 335lbs stopped after 3rd set. Back was screaming
Adductor machine: 3x15

Slept 2.5hours then went to the gym for press day

Detour wave, week 3, day 4

Press: 2x1 @ 165lbs knew I could do more but so much lack of sleep didn't help
Side laterals: 3x15
Bb wrist curl: 3x10
Bb wrist extension: 3x10
Face pulls: 5x8
Narrow grip seated rows: 3x10
Wide grip seated rows: 3x10
Bb curls: 3x10
Bamboo bench: ~50reps

So guess what? I dead lifted Saturday after saying I wouldn't. Boy did I regret it

No doc unless it was a Fat ass Latina ....no excuse for you. Of course you couldn't strip some weight off the bar either. Probably a petite Cambodian girl you wanted to show her you can lift a small Cambodian village.

Lol. Doc doesn't take weight off the bar unless coach tells him to. This is a foreign concept to me :)

Sounds like you and i and i assume several mesoites are the same, hate taking time off from the gym. I have to force myself to take a week off from the gym every six months or so. And as far as injuries go, i haven't worked out injury free in years. I know i should take a month or more off to do some rehab on a really banged up biceps tendon but the thought of missing workouts and loosing strength and size stops me from doing so.
I think when a person spends as many years in the gym as many of us have it becomes almost like a drug you just gotta have, at least thats how it seems to me.
I hope you dont let that back injury go to long, you might really regret it, a back injury shouldnt be taken lightly!!

Thanks for that. I have an appointment with a doctor for a physical in a week and a half and I'll be asking about sleep apnea as well as the back. Hopefully some MRIs are in my future. I'm pushing the envelope more than I normally would bc I have a meet in October I'm trying to get ready for. About 3-4 other guys all agreed to do it so I don't want to back out nor do I want to not give it my all. Pain is nothing new to me but this particular pain is. When I try to break the ground with a heavy deadlift it almost feels as if the vertebrae in my back are being pulled apart when they should be compressing if anything. We'll see what the doctor says. Hopefully just some inflammation and built up scar tissue although I suspect that's being overly optimistic.

I should add I let this older gentleman work in with me during my box squats. I've seen him a handful of times before and he squats low bar and in chucks and hits depth consistently so I have no problem with a guy like that working in. We get to talking and it turns out he used to compete in PLing years ago. He's coming back from an injury and wants to compote in masters in any ear or two. Nice guy and he had a good eye on a few things I overlooked.

I was sweaty as fuck after box squats so my first set of front squats I hit 4 reps. Went for the 5th and between the sweat and a slight dip in my upper body the bar came off my clavicle and I ended up catching it in my arms. The knurling tore a nice chunk of carpet, I mean hair, off my arms. Luckily I didn't have to dump the bar as that probably would've gotten me a verbal warning at my gym
