Back feeling any better??

Still tight but so long as I'm not pulling off the ground the pain is tolerable. Doc appointment 1 wk from today. Hopefully I get referalls for some imaging done.

Also found out my cousin might be able to get me into a study for sleep apnea at the hospital he works at. If so they'll pay me to do a sleep study and anything related to it which would be awesome. We'll see.
 
Lot of drama and BS last few days. Missed lifting Sunday and made it to the gym today by some miracle.

Freestyle workout: squats

Paused squats: x3 @ RPE 9 375lbs; 5% fatigue load drop 3x3 @ 355lbs
Front squats: x5 @ RPE 9 225lbs by 3 sets
RDLs: 3x7 @ 185lbs

So had a weekend from hell. Was severely dehydrated and malnourished from Saturday till today. Saturday AM I weighed 209lbs and this morning I was 195lbs. Not sweating the weight too much as it'll come back in a few days soon as I eat and drink right.

The 375lb paused squat for triple was a PR I guess. Never did paused squats at that weight before. Must have been pure rage that got me through the workout today as nutrition, hydration, sleep, and stress have been through the roof last few days. All in all it's a win so I'm happy.
 
Way to tough it out Doc, personally i feel the workouts that i do when im not at my best because of lifes stress and drama are the ones that make me stronger both mentally and physically. Its easy to work out when we're feeling great cause lets face it we love working out. But when you dont want to workout but you push yourself through a tough one, i think that separates the men from the boys!!!

Thanks MrB66. Today was one of those days like you describe. Just an all around bad day but I needed an outlet to let my anger out without hurting anyone and the iron is as good a tool as any

You bet brother! Now that i think of it ,me going to the gym has saved the lies of several people whom desperately deserved to have me choke them to death and saved me from spending many years behind bars lol!!!!
Tomorrow will be a better day Doc so go kill it in the gym!!!!

I actually went in monday and did just DLs. Me and a guy I work with who's trying to get in shape. Didnt go any higher than 95, just worked on form. Im starting back from the bottom, but Ill get there.

P.S. I had him shoot a short video of me so I could watch later. I have A LOT of work to do. If Im not actively thinkimg about my form the whole lift it goes to sh*t

There's no shame whatsoever in lowering weights to correct form issues. I've came back from some extensive injuries to squatting the bar. Yea, just the fucking bar lol. It wasn't fun but it's what had to be done.

Video is by far one of the best tools to fixing form issues. If you know what to look for great but if not, send it to a trusted friend to get some critiquing. Nobody has 100% perfect form all the time and the day you stop trying to get better form is the day you stop progressing as a complete lifter.

A few tips/cues that help me with deads:

1) set up so the bar is about an inch from your shins and just over mid foot.
2) bring your shins and knees forward so the shins just barely touch the bar without moving it. From there bend down at the waist and grab the bar. Again it shouldn't move at all.
3) get a big breath in your belly, retract your scapula like your grabbing a ball with your shoulder blades, arms completely straight and slight tension on the bar so there's no slack in your arms or bar at all.
4) initial movement should be knee extension while maintaining back angle. This means the angle of your knees between thighs and shins opens while back angle formed between thighs and back remains the same.
5) once bar clears your knees then back angle opens up and you lockout the weight with locked knees, locked hips, retracted scapula.

I ordered knee wraps from inzer. They took a fucking month to get here. You're ahead of the game. :)
 
BTW, do you go to a chiropractor ? I go to one on a regular basis, have been for years and i swear he keeps my back and a very nagging neck feeling great. I now have no problems.
If you dont , it might be worth a try but you want to find one that works with athletes.

I did a while back after a bad car accident but nothing recent. I had planned on seeing one in August or so bc my insurance would've covered it minus a $25 copay but they recently changed our insurance at work and it's no longer covered. I'd have to pay out of pocket 100% from what I understand. What has given me temporary relief is hanging in the monolift from the hips with a band. Like a ghetto inversion table. Unfortunately I only get to do that when I make the trip to my coaches gym which is 2.5hrs away.

Yeah i hear you on the no insurance coverage, mine isnt covered either so i pay 100% outta pocket. Worth every penny. But im lucky my guy is this 65 year old Japanese guy that does BJ Pen and several other mma fighters and he is..... Well magical i swear, when i leave his office i feel euphoric!!! Like ive been re-charged.
Oh shit!!!! Just realized im a chiropractor shill lol!!
