I've had days like that myself too, especially after working late then training next day

Think you can beat him for the win?

Not a chance. He's either a 242'er or 275'er depending on which weight he WANs to compete at. He put up a 605lb SSB box squat the other day. No way I can compete with that lol

Damn...that makes you a lightweight lol. But yet that must be motivating for you just the same

What ever class your the most competitive, is the correct weight class.

You're right. Unfortunately I really don't want to get much bigger if at all. I was 220 at the end of my first cycle and hated the feeling of weighing that much. Granted I was fatter than I am now but still. Strictly speaking powerlifting though you are spot on.

I'm with you on that. When I'm 230+ in the am, I don't feel as good as I do at 225. Although, if I can maintain how lean I am now and be like 235, that would be cool, haha.

So made the 2.5hr drive to lift with coach again. Brought brutus wkth me to show him how powerlifting is trained....think we got him hooked ;)

SSB squats: a bunch of triples @ 285lbs plus band tension.
Deadlifts: worked up to 425lb single but back be and an issue and I called it after missing set 2.

Lot of firsts today. First time with a SSB bar, first time using bands, and first time using knee wraps. Coach let me try his on and wow is all I have to say lol. It was fun using them.

Brutus came to learn today. Listened to the coaching, listened to the cues and learned a few tricks. Def a student of the iron, he just did as told and saw some immediate benefits.

If you really look carefully mixed in with all the hair..... Started talking shit to the box and got another few more reps in after

Ouch, that looks nasty Doc. Was it from hitting the edge of the box as some of the boxes usually have a metal frame. At least you got another battle scar coming, lol

And shave those gorilla legs lmao!

Fucking great time. Thanks again man

I feel like a loser. Ive been waiting all weekend to hear how the session went with Doc and Brutus. Glad it went well. Ive been thinking lately about getting into powerlifting. Not to compete. Just to switch things up for awhile.

It was fucking great. Pulled 545 for a pr and met a great guy who will be coaching me as soon as I take the plunge... squatting on a monolift with bands is no fucking joke. I am ibuprofened out and laying flat- and my mind is racing with all the shit I learned.

Not to mention I got to undress doc with my eyes for 3 hours in the car. Like a hairy Jessica alba he is.

My coach commented how I looked 30lbs heavier than last time he saw me about 1.5months ago. I've only gained about 5lbs since then. Since last October when I was 185-190ish and just began powerlifting specific training I've just been growing steadily with very little assistance from the gear. My body weight now is 205ish and I'm a little bit leaner than when I started. Training powerlifting is structured and can fill a lot of voids in anyone's training.
