Question for you fellas? How do you feel about people walking across your platform while youre using it? Not in a way that stops what youre doing. Big deal, little deal, no deal?

Big deal to me, that's you disrespecting my zone. If I'm not coming up to the bar then sure take a short cut but if I'm even walking up to my bar that's my plateform, I told my best friend who lifted with me today to take his toes off the plateform when I was doing my clean and jerk

So I've been offered to be apart of a strongman team  I've never trained for strongman but there is a very good strongman at my gym I've been pestering for knowledge for a few weeks now and he said they could use a guy in the 175-200 catagory to fill out the team. Practices are Sunday at noon so I'll have to cut that day of work out which will make me tight on funds but it's free coaching and training they have all the equipment and I want to branch out from just the big 3 hence being signed up for oly comps now too. Anybody ever done a "team practice" lifting session? How does that go down? I'm guessing I don't get to sit and rest for 5 mins between sets....?

That sounds interesting. I observed a team lifting session at the powerlifting gym here I never joined. The way they were doing it there was too much rest because the did one lift and everyone would watch and change weight for the lifter. They were kind of cheering them on. I thought it wouldve been more effecient to do a round robin, but I also have no idea what Im doing

With powerlifting I can see it but strongman all the stones are whatever the stones weigh and the farmers walk are what they are so not so much changing weights, I'm concerned they are going to be expecting me to go like a mad man and that isn't my training style right now but to be on a team might be an atmosphere that elevates my game and that's seriously enticing

I'm sure they know your background before asking. And the experienced ones will be able to tell you the correct training needed.

I know its a lot of trouble, but I love to see a log. Even a non detailed occasional one. We had one female here early last year who was training for strongman (woman). I was actually looking into it at one point when I started PLing.

I've never competed although I think it would be a cool experience...
I have had a few opportunities to train with fairly advanced competitors for their weight classes and I think the popular training scenario is you go head to head on the timed events like stones and keg toss. Seems like extra motivation and their certainly is a lot of standing around and shit talking/cheerin you comrades. I suspect they train log, squat, and the more power oriented events individually as it seems there is plenty of variety in programming. Also seems like there is a fair amount of secrecy about what guys are doing once dates get close, sometimes I guess they are competing for roster spots among classes?
