Meso Powerlifting Corner

Probably the best idea. I guess we'll get more input later when others are on and then start the threads tonight or tomorrow.

I was stalker-lifting the same weight you were during the short period you ran Smolov Jr for your bench. We are at similar weight for that, I got about 30 pounds on you for body weight but I’m also 5-10 years older than you.

Pick a weight you want to race for!

Hell yeah, how about 455lbs or maybe 440lbs (200kg)? I told my girlfriend I'm gonna diet with her a few months after this meet, but I'm still game even if it takes years.

Do your meet and we’ll shoot for 440 or 455 depending on what you press at the meet. Maybe you do real well and get that 440! [emoji106]

Did Smolov Jr work well for you? I didn't think it was till last week hitting that double. I'd like to run it again except without low bar back squat and start with a more reasonable training max. Maybe try it again in the spring.

I guess I could be down for this too. Did 405 raw last year. Not sure how long it will take to turn that into 500, but I'm not going anywhere any time soon. Lol. So we'll see.

I plan on getting back to front squat as my main squat after this meet. I figure if we hit 500lbs on front squat a 600lb back squat would be almost inevitable very soon after.

I was feeling the same beat up elbows and shoulders you had at pretty much the 2 week mark. I took 5 days off and modified the schedule on my own to 3 days a week instead of 4. That made all the difference. Shoulders and elbows feel much better. I got 10x3 tomorrow with 350 lbs.

I like the idea @Perrin Aybara. However we would need to class a few of us together as our Calculated 1RMs. No point me racing you to an 800lb DL lol you already hit 700.

I am thinking something like the newbies, myself included post up our Calculated 1RM you guys in the know pick a reasonable number for each listing those in that group. Then your stronger guys do the same. It would be kinda like different classes.

Just my thoughts

That was my thoughts. I was thinking maybe a race to 405 squat thread, one for 315 bench, and one for 495 deadlift.

There's already a 4/5/6 plate bench/squat/deadlift thread I guess could be revived after the others have been reached. Then the 700lb deadlift one as well.

Maybe a new thread combine the newbs and the vets. Or even a newb thread and separate vet thread. Lots of options.

For sure. I was right around a 565 high bar back squat when I did 405. I'll have to try and dig up the video, can't even remember if it was a grinder or not. Lol. All I know is 500 sounds like a pretty fucking heavy front squat for me right now. Lol

My best high bar back squat was 475lbs, but it's been almost three years ago. Probably better after getting my front squat up, just haven't tried it lately.
