Meso Powerlifting Corner

IDK man, I’d have to disagree. Being a strongman competitor, his grip is already massive. I don’t think he’d have much of a problem pulling 1k (or close to) strapless, honestly. His bench is already one of the best in the world for raw (he’s going for the raw WR) and his squat was the best in WSM history. Yeah, he’d have to lose the wraps, but compared to where he is everywhere else? I think that’s minor.

Nope, no goat. top 20 possibly after a few years of switching to powerlifting permanent. while I believe he’s very strong he’s also a suuuuuppper heavy weight. He would have to start pausing those benches, loose the straps/wagon wheels on deadlifts and squat without wraps .
Truth is some dude like Yuri Belkin or Kevin Oak would come along and smoke him at 220. Pl is a weight class sport but Id say Hall is Elite right now walk into any high level meet anywhere and probably place top 5 in his weight

You have a point about the grip. I hadn’t really thought of that. I think he’d be right there with CWS or Ray Williams. I just don’t see goat status. Ed Coan , Kaz , wheels, etc. these guys totaled 2200+ at 275lb bw or less . Eddy probably has that in him if he trains strict powerlifting a few yeart. I don’t see that happening because theres no money in it

He’d never do it, lol. I just honestly believe he’d be GOAT if he did.

Its crazy how much that dude can deadlift at his size. Theres a few other guys out there with some big pulls and they just dont get a ton of recognition for some reason. Powerlifting fame seems to be very clique oriented. Not always what ya know but who ya know.

I think he could surpass that 500kg world record in time. That wasn't even on an elephant bar either.

Talking about squatting as much as you deadlift reminded of this article. Long, but a very interesting read.

he said Jay Cutler only ate 180g of protein a day... what do you all think about this? I’m eating 200g a day. Thinking about just blasting my carbs sky high...

I don't know if anyone will ever replicate Coans lifts under the SAME CIRCUMSTANCES he did. Same day weigh in, no deadlift or squat bars and following your self (round robin style) in a rotation. Along with minimal support of assistive equipment …. as you can tell he is my hero.... but never say never it could happen

There’s obviously merit here. Anything Dave Tate is in has great if not excellent info. I agree that carbs are where it’s at for the body’s preferred energy source. Maintenance , bulking this strategy is fine. I can’t try cutting bw and have protein that low when I get into a defect. That’s .6-.8g per/lb bw. I have to raise protein pretty substantially to compensate or my strength and energy takes a total shit. I’m sure some of the protein is being converted to glucose from gluconeogenisis(spelling). Carb cycling kinda throws a wrench in this. Hard to nail that shit down with my schedule, even doing meal prep.
Me personally I do better on higher protein, 1.2-1.5g per/lb. playing with carbs allows me to loose bf but after a point my energy suffers.
