400-500 lb squat in my high school was breaking records.

I guess technically I wasn't around for 75% of high school. But I believe our strongest recorded kid was a year younger than I was and he basically did 3/4/5 on SBD his senior year. Which is funny because 7 years ago it was almost closing in on the state records in the open class. Now that same kids is 100's of pounds away from the state open total for that same class. Granted he's a pudgy 230 now.

No, the reason being men under 90 kg (198lbs) weight class so 181 a below use a regular barbell for squats. Same with females. Men 90 kg and over use a squat bar for squat

John Haack amazes me. I don’t understand how he’s so strong. It has to be some sort of wizardry.
John Haack, just picks up))). But we are amazed at how he does it, with what ease and confidence. A new era of powerlifting is dawning. Once in my childhood I watched films about the universal soldier) and biorobots. So here he is - John-biorobot, or rather the terminator - T-1000

Should be looking at 2200-2300lbs at 198lbs in a couple weeks. I'm really tempted to make the drive to watch that plus see Jamal Browner pull 1000+. I don't understand either, superhuman genetics or sorcery for sure.
You are not the only one)) who simply does not understand what is happening and how he does it. But he just walks up to that damn barbell and lifts it up again and again. And I am amazed and amazed again and again, like a child who first saw a fairy tale))

Just amazing that he does at such a light bw and most likely drug free
Yes, its strength and power really amazes and continues to amaze. After all, I have been watching him for a long time and such examples continue to motivate and amaze me at the same time.)

Or a good way to approach the weight category is to first increase the amount of water with the help of water, and then decrease it, and the body itself will begin to lose fluid and weight

seems like a bad method to me. Since it leads to injury. Better driven into competition by diet and nutrient management based on exercise rhythm
Well I know thats the number one thing people manipulate first is water I just wasnt sure if people have used diuretics to do it. It seems like a sure fire way since doing it naturally would leave too much up to chance I would think
