@turcao did you take the plunge on those knee sleeves yet? Now I'm contemplating it with all the knee trouble I'm having.
Not yet. I only found one site that had the SBD so I started looking at the Rehband 7 mm. A guy at my gym uses them and loves them. He's a pretty serious about his squats. I value his opinion. I'm gonna pull the trigger today though. My knees are creaking and cracking a lot these days. Not a spring chicken anymore.

I have heavy squats today so going to try out my sleeves.
Hopefully I'll have a good lift I'm at doc with sinus infection and bronchitis. F my L

I hadn't even thought of that. I'm not looking to squeeze on a pair four sizes too small to gain a few pounds anyway, I just want to be able to squat without pain. I couldn't use them at my meet anyway.

Give us an update later. Sinus infections suck, too. Wake up with a sore throat and feel like hell.

Just ordered the SBD. I'm in the same boat as you, not looking for an increase in weight, just want the support and comfort. They should be delivered in a couple days so I'll give you a full report once I get them.

Will do man.

I've been looking at prices for the past few minutes. Thought the Rehbands were cheaper until I realized the price was for one sleeve, so they run just as much as SBDs. I'm looking for some reviews on Titan and Slingshot right now and a few other cheaper alternatives.

Yeah, let me know. I don't know if I'll order any in the next few days or not.

SBD is kind for sleeves but slingshot sTrong series is a close second. Rehband and Titan and the other generics aren't even in the same game as those two.

Do you think they'll help with the knee pain? Like I said, I'm not concerned with them adding weight, I just want to be able to squat regularly.

Okay, for the knee pain it is dependant but we can narrow it down. If your knee pain is a creaking and popping then yes as it'll keep your joints warm and warm fluid keeps it lubricated. If your knee pain is a minor tear of either the LCL MCL ACL or PCL then no it will absolutely not help. As you've said you've had this injury before and it is due to general instability in your knee if you've been cleared of all ligament damage from a doctor then it's purely a stabilization issue and it will help as it sucks your knees into the anatomical position. I have a few tests you can do to see if it's ligament damage if doctors are really an option right now but just cause you get negative results doesn't mean there couldn't be ligament damage although if you get a positive result it would indicate a damage that requires time to heal (time off entirely from squating.

You say when your sitting down you get the pain, is it the upper lateral part of your knee that you get the pain or is it more medial? The more info given the easier it would be for me to get an idea of what you have and could do to help.

(Disclaimer I am no doctor but I am very very well versed in knee injuries and have a lot of experience treating them)

It's my right knee, the pain is in the inner side of the front of the knee cap. Whenever it comes on while squatting it's very sudden and it's like a very sharp pain and all strength is just gone from that leg. Last time I had to lower the bar to the safeties, on Thursday I just had 135 on and was able to rack it. No pain on deadlift or stationary bicycle. It hurts when getting around 90 degrees and has pressure, so when sitting or standing and I get faint pain doing other things like putting shoes and pants on.

Yeah, I realize you're not a doctor, but I appreciate the advice.

Edit: hurts right around here if this helps any.

Sent you a PM before I saw the picture, that's where your miniscus is. Does it hurt if you poke it with your finger with a bit of pressure?

If you have someone that can perform the McMurray test on your knee you can confirm the suspicion. (Just YouTube McMurray test there's lots of how to videos)

I'm out and about doing some shopping, I'll try that out where I get home. I hope it's not that, that requires surgery, doesn't it?

Depends on the degree of minuscule tear, don't worry about surgery though as I'm not leaning that way at all as the mechanism of injury isn't suggestive of significant damage and you've squatted comfortable with extremely high weight since the last time. Let us know what you figure out when you get home.

Squats went pretty good , especially since my lungs keep spewing fluid- lol. Worked up to 320 for 6 then 2 drop sets. I will say my lighter sets felt easier, even the 320 I probably had 2 more reps in me but was supposed to hit 5.
As far as the sleeves go I kinda wish they were tighter but I know I wouldn't be able to get an xl off after lift. I had a hard time getting the xxl off after. It's my first heavy squats with the lever inzer ( which I love btw) and day 2 of dat dere dbol so I can't really comment too much on whether sleeves helped a lot. But in going to continue to use them and see.

Quick update: I got though the first two checks on that video you linked me to with no pain. We're going out to eat with my family tonight and my girlfriend was getting ready and I had to drag her out of the bathroom to do those two. Will try to get her to go through the rest or at least more when we get home tonight.

Meniscus tear surgery is pretty minor if that does turn out to be the problem but I would agree with Rodger in that you aren't likely to have been able to squat heavy with a tear.

I hope you guys are right. I did squat heavy after taking a week off last time though. I guess if it was too serious that wouldn't have been possible.
