Perrin Aybara's Journey to an Elite Powerlifting Total

Thanks, but it was only a block pull and not a real deadlift. Hoping to pull it from the floor maybe some time next year.
Try eliminating the 2 risers under the step platforms soon and you'll be like 4" off the floor.

I been using 45lb plates as blocks (the plates are octagonal) so got 425lbs last week on just 2 plates high (~4") off the floor.

Block pull (7.5" off the floor) I am able to pull 465 for a double which was done 2 wks prior. Not too shabby that so I do hope to pull that much off the floor soon enough as long as my crappy knees and back can take it. Getting older does suck some :(

That 700lbs off the floor is in sight and so close I am sure you can taste it haha.

Don't go so high with the blocks that it dramatically changes the mechanics of the lift. Same with deficits.

I use the pins in a rack and the bottom one is that high off the floor unfortunately. I can adjust by standing on 2 45lb plates to make it 5.5" which is close to the 6" that's good for block pulls.

Besides my legs are somewhat long for my 5'8" height. Used to be 5'10 but had severe compression injury to my spine in an accident.

Pulling from the ground or from blocks the plates are what rests on the ground/blocks. On rack pulls it's the bar resting on the rack safeties. If deadlift carryover is what you're after block pulls are far superior to rack pulls.

Lol I know the difference in setup I meant why are they superior? I can't see how they're much different, they're both pulling from X amount of elevation.
