Perrin Aybara's Journey to an Elite Powerlifting Total

They are a good tool to overload and not beat your body or CNS up. I've used them at times when I've been beat up and trying to recover. I don't go crazy. I'll go up to about 5% on top of my last PB/PR.

I like them on bench as well.

Thanks. Sorry for all the questions, I'm just curious what kinds of things work for really strong guys.

Here is the strategy I used to get my lifts up.
First thing I did back when i started was find a coach that is a great coach. And knows how to program.

Next was I had my goals of 700 pull 700 squat and 400 bench. In that order.

I had already developed my strength foundation. And went on a deadlift specialization program, while maintaining my other lifts. I attacked deadlifts first because 1) it was/is my strongest lift 2) besides the squat the deadlift allowed us to move large amounts of weight giving us more towards our total.

How I attacked my weaknesses in my lifts is different than most. I don't find accessory movements to bring my weaknesses up. I believe in order to strengthen a weakness train that weakness within the lift. So if your weak below the knees on your pull. Pause at the spot then pause again coming back down. You can do rack or block pulls but IMO nothing hits you better than training the weakness within the movement. I'll use accessory movements for flushing and some hypertrophy.

@Perrin Aybara I'll explain this more in my log. I don't want to take away or derail your log.

I agree, get the EliteFTS one. My new gym has that exact one and it's super comfy to use. That padding will not wear out like others. My old gym had one of EliteFTS old SSB which weighed more and longer handles. I tried the Rougue one at another gym in town also. The one on EliteFTS is on sale right now too. Just ordered some stuff from there a few hours ago. Picked up a pair of their Krait new wraps(for whenever I decide to actually try wraps) for $12. Normally I think they are 50

Krait wraps are solid wraps. I like those as well.

Thanks for the advice and don't worry about derailing the thread. My log became a car discussion once for like 2-3 pages. It's kind of a regular thing around here and if you've ever got anything to add feel free.

No, they won't keep stuff there unless it's out and available for everyone. My gym is mostly populated by non lifters and I don't trust them to be careful with it, so I'll most likely be bringing it with me on days I want to use it.
Makes good sense, as you want to protect your investment. I bet it is a bitch to bring bars and the like to the gym when you need to use it but you don't want to get it bent or damaged in any way by careless people.

Maybe you should change gyms then if you can, lol.

They have trainers there? If you can befriend one they might let you keep it in their office. That's where I keep my weight belt so no one else uses it:p

There's a couple women trainers, but they don't have offices. Worst case I just take it with me on the days I'm gonna use it. Can always ratchet strap it to my roof if it won't fit inside the car or trunk.

Ugh that sucks. Any nicer gyms near you? At least your one step closer to a nice home gym if nothing else.

It's obvious what kind of "lifting" goes on at my gym when every time I come in all the plates are gone from the rack. Smith machines and leg press are always stocked though.
