Perrin Aybara's Journey to an Elite Powerlifting Total

Looks like training is going good brother. How’s everything going?

Everything is going pretty well. Still good with my girlfriend you met last year, new job is going well, and training is going well except bench. Doing a local push/pull meet next month. You still got the same number?

Glad to here things are going well. Yes my number is the same. What’s going on with the bench?

Had some lingering pain last year that kept getting worse and I didn't bench at all for about six months. Been back at it a couple months, but the progress isn't coming very fast. Hit 345x2 at RPE 10 the other day, so my max is only 365ish at the moment. Weird thing was overhead press didn't hurt at all, only horizontal pressing.

216lbs

SSB squats 300x10, 320x10, 340x10

3" sumo block pulls 585x2, 610x2, 585x2, 585x2

5 count paused SSB squats 305lbs for 5x3

Chest supported row 3x20

Hamstring curls 3x20

This was supposed to be yesterday's workout. Ended up being a 14+ hour day at work and just didn't have time to get it in last night. Block pulls just weren't feeling strong today.

How did the 350x2 feel?

How did the 350x2 feel?

First rep moved fairly quickly, second was kinda slow. Still moved better than 345x2 a couple weeks ago. I should be good for 375lbs at my meet next month. I'm still pretty underweight for my class, so maybe can pack a little last minute weight on and gain a little pressing power.

220lbs (went to O'Charley's Saturday and a cookout yesterday. Must've got a lot of sodium.)

Sumo deadlift 550x3, 580x3, 615x3 PR

Tried going almost toes to plates Saturday and felt immediately stronger, so tried it again today. Felt awesome. Gonna open with 600lbs, second attempt 625lbs and maybe try 650lbs at the meet. Wednesday will be going for around 335x3 on bench. I'm thinking 335lbs opener, 355 second attempt, and 365-375lbs third attempt.

See what a little more food and rest can do! Sounds like you got the boost you really needed and how much time till the meet?

In due time you'll get it, but deads are your forte right?

In relation to the other lifts deadlift is stronger, yes. Probably will only hit 365-375lbs at the meet on bench. 375lbs would be a meet PR, but will still be disappointing because I've hit 405lbs in the gym.

What do you think about going to a PT? The one I saw was really great with helping me fix mobility issues that were messing with my knees.

Not an option unfortunately. My health insurance premium went up a ton this year and I had to cancel my insurance.
