Race to a 700lb Deadlift

Yeh reason I did it was I got a prp shot in my elbow and was trying to let it heal. I hit 640 to a 16 inch box at the end of it. I got 610 in a comp later on in the year. It's definitely geared towards peaking for a competition. There is no way to keep doing all that volume. I did wear single ply power brief on some days of training.

Hey man I know I'm resurrecting a post you made last October but....how did the prp in your elbow end up helping? I've gotten cortisone in both elbows for my tendinitis but I'll never do that again. Been struggling with justifying the cost to get PRP done.

How was your experience? What was your elbow like before? How is it now this long after? Did they use ultrasound to guide the shot when they did it?

Thanks...

Had a fucking car accident that fucked me for 2 months ( 3 weeks in the hospital with 0 good food max 1500 kcal per day and my daily intake are 4500 kcal poor me). shit I got to 600 lbs now I am trying to get back to the gym step by step.

Sucks brother. Hope you have speedy recovery. What's your timeframe looking like getting back at it?

I've done a lot of PRP - written about it here too. It's worked out for me, arms back to no pain at all.

Do it in Thailand, very inexpensive. One session on arrival, one before leaving, 10 days of vacation in between.

Good work! I failed at 550lbs on the trap bar several times earlier today...

Have you had much success implementing them? This is my first experience using them and next week I'm going back to conventional deadlift with sumo block pulls and deficit trap bar deadlifts as my assistance exercises.

I don't think I have the ideal anthropometry for them. But they have their place in training.

Been a while since I'd done them. 470 ish was OK for a double. Stick a few more pounds on and it would only come 3" off the floor.

Lots of carry over to squats, as I understand it.

That's what I've been told, too. I'm thinking improving my squat will inevitably improve my deadlift with it.

Used to live with a guy that lifted and competed for my local university. He would implement them at the ends of his DLs he said it helped him a lot with grip more than anything i.e farmer walk etc...

I pull Sumo as well. I found what really helped me get over 700 was deficit pulls, I also train conventional for weeks at a time before going back to my competition lift. I also use pauses right below the knee on the way up and pauses same spot back down. Rack or block pulls work well for me as well. Just some thoughts you might want to consider.

I've recently been doing deficit sumo (use 35's instead of 45's) and then pause right off the floor like where it would be when pulling from a normal height. I use trap bar deadlift and also box squats mimicking sumo deadlift as other accessories.
