Vasectomy....?

I am a late 20 y/o male, with no children. I'm not in a committed relationship, and I have an OVERWHELMING fear of getting someone pregnant that I do not wish to have a child with.... I think I'm going to get a vasectomy, but I'd love to hear some thoughts from our docs and people who have had one... I found a local guy who has a 98% success rate of reversing the procedure..

@Dr JIM @Michael Scally MD

Vasectomy should never be considered a form of temporary CONTRACEPTION, try a condom!

The effects must be considered PERMANENT and any reasonable Urologist will tell you THAT, as there are no guarantees with respect to "reversal".

In fact I would question the scruples of any surgeon willing to perform such an operation on a twenty year old, wo kids, not withstanding a transmissible genetic or metabolic disorder!

Doc, I understand your viewpoint here, and i've had similar thoughts.

Now, there is a low chance I'd want to have a kid someday. And, I have ZERO issue adopting if I did want children... Also, a lot of girls don't want to be on hormones, and condoms are horrific.

I have an overwhelming fear of contracting an STD if I DON'T wear a condom... I only like gambling when I drink, and I don't drink too often these days.
I will only NOT use one after I've been in that relationship for SOME time and I trust them. Nonetheless...

That's my girlfriend's issue, apparently the shot has strong links to osteoporosis. My ex couldn't take the pills because of her blood pressure. Lots of horror stories about the implants, too. And condoms, no thanks. Pulling out gets old, too.

I'm with ya!

Got my Vas three months ago. Pushing 40, wife and I have two healthy little girls, and don't want anymore!

Procedure: Doc offered a Valium prior to procedure, which I gladly accepted. Helps reduce the anxiety, especially when you smell your scrotum getting burned! All you feel is a bit of tugging on nut sack, due to the local anesthetic eliminating all other pain.

Recovery: Felt like I was kicked in my left nut. I couldn't even consider working out for 5 days due to the pain. I took the narcotics for two days, then switched to NSAIDS. I had no swelling and no hematoma, which can easily happen if you push it too early. I was able to lift after about a week, then able to train jiu jitsu after two weeks. I did have a nagging dull ache for about a month. Not the end of the world, but didn't think my balls would ache for a fucking month!

Edit: the use of tight underwear can't be stressed enough, along with constantly rotating ice packs. Keep your balls high and tight!

Forget the "age' issue for a moment, bc if you're with some gal you wouldn't want children from, a condom is highly recommended IMO.

But condoms make the sex feel less good :(

Yea and wait until an outcropping of herpes appears bc then you'll likely think otherwise, IME

Oh and since many who have herpes are asymptomatic, transmission does NOT require the presence of "active disease"!

Is several minutes of "pleasure" worth a lifelong infection NIMO

Hey but it's you life and your dice, roll them as you choose BUT understand the RISKS

LOL, yes, that is a giant concern... Of course! But, I've had unprotected sex in committed relationships, although I didn't want kids with them! Seemed fine to me....

I think it's a sound decision...you don't have a desire for kids, and you're open to adoption if the desire comes about. Sounds like you've put a lot of thought into this...I commend you. Just make sure you're 100%, before pulling the trigger. This is permanent...but also a good peace of mind. Just remember, it won't save you from std's...jimmy up if you're with strange!!

I worked with a guy that got one, got married and had it reversed, had kids, got another one. Now he pays child support for 5 kids :(

Sounds like a good investment, 12k a year in child support can add up my friend!

4 guys I work with have gone to this guy, said it's about a day downtime... they don't even put you under, just a local... I like it....
The numbing shot into your nut sack is the most painful part.
Had mine done at 28. 26 years ago.
Was back in the saddle in 2 days.
Btw....dont tell the chix ur with. When u go to cool off a relationship and she pulls the Im pregnant card....well the look on her face when you tell her your fixed is uh....priceless.

I agree completely....i was 28 getting divorced and had 3 kids to support.
When i saw my dr he asked me to give it a month and think about it.
When i went back he agreed to do it at my age only because I already had the boys.
Reversibility is NOT a given with this procedure.

You think a RUBBER is gonna stop this...?!

Bad example... Just IMHO....

YOU SKIN IS YOUR PROTECTION.. (unless you fuk like me for 4-6hrs and get the dreaded "ring around the collar"..!!:D:p:eek::eek::eek::eek:

The condom is for her protection... She's THE ONE with the HUGE "Dik HOLE' you are putting your wank in....!

DISCLAIMER..
The ARSE is a SURE WAY TO GET IT ALL FOR ANY SEX...>! ( and dont forget those dribblings and lovely secretions down yer own ass even in normal to FREAK heterosexual intercourse...!!!!:D

Of course Herpes is one of those NO ONE get afforded protection if active...!

Just sayin - INSPECT YER PUSSY WELL PRIOR TO DINNER>...

:confused::D:)
