Daily Log to 2019 Show Season

Haven’t posted many back shots because it hasn’t been a priority. Here’s where I’m at from the rear. EDIT: I lied. Photos won’t upload.

Def need some soft tissue therapy as my let spread feels confined. It’s crazy how noticably wider I open up after deep tissue work. It’s also been 8months...slacking.

Back:
1. Pull downs - as many sets as needed to reach heaviest 8-10 rep set possible (true failure, had a training partner)

2. Chest Supported DB Row (both hands) - 4x12-15

3. HS Seated Row (plate loaded) - as many sets as needed to reach the heaviest 8-10 rep set possible (true failure)

4. Parallel grip pull downs - 4x15-20

5. Rev Cable Flyes - 3x12

Officially called offseason yesterday. Dropping to just 250 Test for 8 weeks while I ramp down and rest for prep.

Next 8 weeks will be treating life like I’m on prep without the caloric restriction or cardio: no missing meals, no cheats, trying to focus on sleep, etc.

You did a great job man, inspiring offseason.

Sincere thanks, man.

Definitely was more room for optimizing it. But such is life. Time to recover any negative blood markers and get myself in a good spot to kick prep off
Do you honestly feel like it was worth it to hire a coach, or do you think that you could have managed on your own?

Wouldn’t have gotten where I am without the kick in the ass from a coach. He was hands off for 75% of the time which is what I wanted. Set me right and let me loose. Sometimes you just need your compass righted.

Bringing on a different prep coach (offseason was with a guy chasing an Olympia qual and I don’t want to be competing with as lofty a goal as that for attention) in the next few weeks to get acclimated before prep actually starts.

How is your hand doing?
Great thread but this post really got me....I was walking my dog about 6 months ago and 3 dogs burst out of a front door. Quite a weird lineup of 3 dogs...a dachshund, something that looked like a lab mix, and a full grown American bulldog. They run up and surround my dog, a 50 pound pup that wants to be friends with everything. The normal smelling routine goes on, trying to play it cool and then the dachshund starts to nip at my dog and the other two start to try biting him. I've got to say I kicked the bulldog squarely twice in the shoulder/neck area and it backed him off a bit but definitely didn't harm him too much. All said, my dog only had 1 bite mark so I think it turned out almost as well as possible.

This is a great thread and hope my rambling isn't distracting at all. My blood still boils thinking about the dog attack. I normally carry when I'm out but hadn't when me and my dog would go for a walk, as half the time we would do some running too. I now carry a small expandable baton for anything that may come up.
dagger works well for this purpose. A 1" wide 6" deep hole in the neck seems to make most animals 2 or 4 legged re think their line of work
My use of “failure” is definitely not on par with Dorian’s though. Which is why I don’t think most people could use Dorian’s approach and succeed. He’s an animal and most people aren’t capable. Nevermind just having a competent, motivated training partner.
Leroy Davis was a fucking champ in his own right just with the one liners

Are you keeping calories and macros the same at this point and just taking out refeeds until necessary?

Or are you slowly bumping down calories?

Cals will stay constant for now. I highly doubt I’ll put on any fat. Works both ways lol; can’t add muscle easy can’t add fat easy. So I’ll save all this caloric content to be stripped during prep. Hopefully super lean well above 2k cals by show time

So you’d say you’re at maintenance at how many cals?! That’s crazy. I’m gaining weight at 3,500 and I’m 6’1”.

How low did you bring your cals last show?

Most likely around 15-1600 for the final week or so. All lean protein, veggies, and a bit of added fat.

Ok, I thought I was crazy bringing mine down that low the last couple weeks of my last cut. And I don’t have nearly as much LBM as you. But I guess it’s not unheard of. I just feel like my metabolism has been shot ever since then. I tried going up to 4,000 calories after gradually bring cals up over 3 months and that’s when I had to drop down about 100g carbs from too much water retention. Hopefully I can work my cals up though. Just on week 3 of my blast. I’m really intrigued to see how you move wirh this prep.
